The War Price and Rationing board reports a state bulletin requiring immediate filing of ceiling price lists for living costs and consumer services at the local board. Merchants must file monthly supplementary lists for new items. An inspector will review all submitted lists, and used tires remain frozen with no sales or transfers. Gasoline ration books will be issued during November 9 and 10 registrations, requiring a 1942 automobile registration receipt.
Twenty women met Monday to form courses in Shorthand Typing and Home Economics. Registration totals include 16 Advanced Typing 14 Beginning Shorthand 12 Advanced Shorthand 6 Beginning Typing and 4 Home Economics. Beginners typing meet 8 P M and shorthand at 8 30 P M. Contact Mr Shirley for details.
City officials issued a warning this week that Halloween vandalism will not be tolerated and that parents will be held strictly accountable for damages caused by their children.
Funeral services for Joachim Petersen a Farmington pioneer were held Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev Gravdal officiating. Interment followed beside his wife’s remains in Fargington. Pallbearers were Cal Binford J B Connor T O Lerson Lars Nasser Henry Davidson and Carl Burbank. Several relatives traveled from Montana Washington and Minnesota to attend.
Don Rose, formerly a notable athlete, chased by three grizzlies near Dr. Crary's lodge on the North Fork of the Teton. He and a Chateau party narrowly faced danger as a mother bear and two cubs approached. A well-placed shot stopped the mother and one cub. the remaining cub retreated.

John J. Hannan 58 of 414 Fourth Street North Great Falls merchant since 1932 died at Columbus hospital from a blood clot on the lung after two months illness. He chaired Choteau public schools, led Lions clubs, and helped chambers. Survived by widow Margaret daughter Kathleen brother Dr Martin L Hannan of Chicago sister Mae Culkin. Funeral at St Ann's cathedral Great Falls.

Last minute touches finish St. Williams Catholic Church at Dutton for formal dedication on Wednesday Oct. 28 at 4 PM. The Most Rev. Bishop J J Gilmore of Helena will officiate and the public is invited.

Teton Bulldogs edged Browning 7 to 0 on the local field to remain the division’s only undefeated team. Stott scored the lone touchdown with Underwood’s extra point, while Chateau’s defense stymied Browning’s offense through the game as prep for the Conrad match on October 30.

The Power Home Demonstration club met at Mrs. Adam Dahlman’s home with Mrs. Oscar Anderson assisting. Miss Conlon demonstrated on Foods and Nutritions and planned Cookie Day and gift wrapping for service members overseas. A fundraising event for departing soldiers is scheduled for later this month. The next meeting is set for November 12 at 2 p.m.
Former editor Karl Bishop and his wife with infant Barney depart Choteau for Decorah Iowa their four year tenure here included service as editor and his assistant They were honored by local dinners and events and may return after military service with hopes of resuming newspaper work.
Local hunter George O'Hare questioned reports of a Sunday opening and Helena officials confirmed October 25th as the correct start date for bird season. The November first opening was verified after inquiries.
Alex Longmuir, longtime Chateau resident and familiar business and social figure, died Friday at Columbus Hospital in Great Falls after a monthlong illness from internal cancer. Born in Aberdeen Scotland in 1862, he came to the area via Sun River Crossing and worked at Clark Bros Sheep Co and later ran the Mint saloon with Clyde Miller. He left a wife Effie Hardin and two daughters, with survivors including sisters and a brother in Scotland and grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at Banks Funeral Home, with A. B. Guthrie delivering the oration and Miss Betty Webb singing.
The Open House for St Williams new Catholic Church at Dutton drew about 400 guests from Bute Fort Benton Conrad Chateau Fairfield Power Bute Collins Dutton and Great Falls. Visitors were guided through the church by receptionists highlighting its features.
