John L. Trudeau 84 of Collins died last Friday at 4:30 am at his daughter’s home in Drummond after a cancer battle. Born in Hamburg Iowa in 1855, he lived in Montana since 1900 and in Collins since 1917. He married in Cheyenne in 1875 and is survived by his son Fred, three daughters, three sisters and one brother. Rosary was held in Missoula and a high mass at St Francis Xavier in Missoula followed by burial in St Mary’s cemetery.
Bozeman extension horticulturist E. E. Isaac will visit the county October 24 25 and 26 to discuss general landscaping problems and offer individual home visits. Public meetings are open at Farming ton Greenfield Hall and Chateau court room. contact the county agent for help requests.
More than 180 hunters checked at the local station for opening buck deer and elk season. Three kills reported this week amid four inches of snow and dense fog hindering visibility. Dr. E M Larson of Great Falls bagged a cow elk in White River region. Forest Zion of Chateau and Carsten Holt of Dutton each took buck deer in Dry Gulch and Mortimer Gulch.
Over the past week Clerk Halvor Daley issued two licenses. Harold Whittington 35 and Lucille Hopkins 33 of Tacoma obtained a license on October 14 and wed October 16 by Justice Alexander P. Toekes 23 power resident Edna Krug 20 Great Falls officiated. A third applicant Sam H Dunbar Cut Bank was denied after the clerk noticed Touise Tanabe Seattle possessing an Oriental name.
The Seventh Annual Teton's Own Chautauqua runs Friday through Sunday Oct 20 22 at Chateau with tickets on sale in communities and at the door. Main features include Friday pageant America Grew Great by Vision directed by A L Johnson with 10 communities in participation and a four scene portrayal. Saturday Patsy Strings Along a three act comedy drama with an electric organ program. Sunday selections by all county chorus and various vocal groups plus four speakers from local high schools.
Teton county farmers to choose community committeemen for the 1940 conservation program. Meetings begin at 2 o clock except Teck and Diamond Valley which meet at 1 pm. list lists dates and local venues for each community.
The second dose of diphtheria toxoid will be given at an infant and pre school conference on Wednesday October 25 at 1 30 p m at Dr Bateman s office. Twenty six children attended the conference on October 4 seventeen received protection against diphtheria and fifteen against smallpox. Last week the State Board of Health reported seventeen communicable disease cases in Ok Tikapa with three deaths.
