Chateau Lions Club hosts annual swim awards party
The Chateau Lions Club swim team and diving team hold their year end awards event Saturday at 7 30 p.m. at the Lions hall. Stan Rathman says 70 swimmers and 14 divers plus parents join to honor the 1969 season and welcome former teams from 1957 and 1958.

The Chateau Chamber of Commerce discussed Capers entertainment plans for November 22 with a call for acts. Jaycee Bill McCauley outlined backing offstreet parking to free street space for shoppers, and the Chamber urged City Council action. President Robert Gronberg announced possible library expansion via the Villager building. D. P. Fabrick reported Skyline Lodge intends to build a retirement center with enough residency applications and team canvassing. construction could start in about a year for residents 62 or older.

Dutton Receives Federal Aid for City Sewer Upgrade
The Federal Water Pollution Control Administration approved a grant of 12840 dollars to Dutton for replacing its inadequate sewer with an open lagoon system. A 50000 dollar project is planned with a 40000 dollar bond issue. bond timing coincides with a new interstate highway nearby. Senators Mansfield Metcalf and Congressman Olsen urged the grant.

Former Augusta resident Mrs. Leland Voegele aged 30 died last Friday in a Great Falls hospital after months of illness. Born July 5, 1939 in Great Falls, she lived in Augusta until 1957 after graduating from Augusta High School. She held a education degree from Western Montana College in Dillon and attended the Montana Institute of the Bible at Billings. Survivors include her widower and three children Rebecca Sue Kenneth Lee and Julia Joy, her mother Rosemary Schrader of Augusta, sister Clair Mueller of Alexandria Louisiana, and brother William Schrader of Augusta. Funeral services were held in Great Falls on Monday.

Elk and deer season opens in the Sun River area on Sunday Oct 19. The elk quota for District 42 is 325 cows and calves, split 215 in the northern portion and 110 in the southern portion. The boundary moves south to the top of Black Reef and east to the U S Forest Service line. The Augusta checking station will run 24 7 for elk kills and data collection with jaw or tooth aging used to determine animal age.
