The Democratic Cavalcade of State Candidates led by Attorney General Arnold Olsen will speak at a noon potluck lunch at Moose Hall in Chateau on Saturday Oct 13. Most Montana candidates are expected, with Miss Mary Condon John Holmes Horace Casey Forrest Anderson Lou Boedeker Paul Cannon and others in attendance. The eastern division began Sept 16 and has stopped at Scobey Plentywood and many towns for talks on the 1956 campaign.

Rough Fish Poisoning in Tunnel Lake Cleared Waters
Montana Fish and Game Commission poisoned Tunnel Lake to remove rough fish using 20 gallons of Fish Toxin on Sept. 28 under biologists supervision. Afterward only two Loch Leven and about 100 Rainbow trout remained while millions of perch and other rough fish were killed. A restocking program will follow. Wi-Moe-Da-Si meeting set at Mrs. Mary Johnsons home on Saturday the 13th at 2 pm.

Augusta Game Range Opened for Elk and Deer Hunting
The Augusta game range west of Augusta designated Area 9 for elk and Area 6 for deer will be open for hunting from October 15 to October 31. Animals of either sex may be taken. Hunters are urged to use specified parking areas and exercise extreme fire caution due to high fire danger amid dry conditions. A map correction extends Area 6 east to the Continental Divide, not via Poor Man Creek.

A total of 10 503.7 acres of winter wheat on 136 farms in Teton county have signed up in the 1957 Soil Bank Acreage Reserve. Final date for signup was Oct 5. If fully complied, payments would total 258 034 49 dollars. Regulators allow increased reserve acreage if signed by Oct 5 and requests were made.

Chain-Reaction Auto Collision Involves Three
A 1956 Olds driven by Michael J Hetman of Philadelphia struck the rear of a 1955 Buick driven by Thomas Alexander Garland near the Teton river bridge on US 89 south of Choteau causing hundreds in damage. The Buick hit a 1949 Chevrolet driven by Jerry Neiffer. none were injured. Patrolman Henry Helf cited Hetman for a basic rule violation.

The Teton County Young Democrats reported 464 new voting registrations from a club drive at a Oct 1 meeting in the Chateau courtroom. They plan a noon Democratic Caravan luncheon at Moose Hall and a banquet Oct 29 at Odd Fellows Hall, with 500 sample ballots for high schools. State Rep Gordon Mc Omber urged teamwork and Tony Burgmaier spoke on the platform convention.

Shotgun blast wounds Koteau man after car crash
Donald Kelly, 21, a Koteau salesman, was injured when his car left a highway near Chateau and struck a field. A loaded 12 gauge shotgun on the front seat discharged, tearing his calf. He used a shirt as a tourniquet, a passerby drove him to hospital, and he received blood transfusions. He faces a traffic citation for basic rule violations and no valid license.

Pickup Truck Recovered After Idaho Theft Case
A pickup stolen Sept. 11 from Cedric Maurer farm near Power, Idaho, was recovered at Twin Falls and returned to Teton County. Joe Roberts, a transient, admitted the theft after a burglary attempt. the gas tank and tools were taken, gas sold in Du Bois, and the vehicle found abandoned in Shelley. Roberts faces charges in Twin Falls and the FBI may join the case.
