Three JATO bottles were dropped from a Stead AFB aircraft Sunday near a creek 10 miles east of Choteau Montana. The brown 40 inch long 12 inch diameter 225 pound bottles are dangerous and residents should call Great Falls AFB munitions if found.
The Choteau Chamber of Commerce held its regular Tuesday noon meeting in the Choteau Drug dining room with scanty attendance. Vice president Al Hensley presided in President Milton McNea’s absence. Ray Kelly urged financial backing for a nine county 4 H club leader meeting set for Nov 3 and 4, which was approved. The group noted the State Chamber convention in Helena on Nov 7 and 8 and urged strong local turnout. Anearlier arrival for the Choteau mail truck was tabled. A committee including Barney McClue James Jarosimek and James Henderson was formed to meet with the city council about a blinker system for Main Avenue after 6 pm and Sundays. Traffic issues involving high school students at noon were discussed with City Attorney LeLeo Murphy reporting multiple cases.
New stricter wheat sanitation rules go into effect July 1 1956 as the 1956 crop year begins. The Food and Drug Administration lowers the legal action basis to one rodent pellet per pint or one percent insect damaged kernels in random wheat car sampling. The revised standards aim to boost food cleanliness and give the grain industry time to adjust.
Paul Zuidema died Sept. 30 in a Great Falls hospital at age 67. A burial followed Oct. 3 at Fort Benton. Born in Holland he immigrated to the United States in 1891 with his parents and settled in Montana. He lived at Farmington Beach from 1905 until 1911 then homesteaded in the Geral dine area and farmed there until his death. Survivors include two sisters.

The Special Services Study Committee of the Montana Farm Bureau with Director Howard Lord as chairman left Sunday. Committee members include Ted Sorenson of Ditan Ed Adams Jr Wheatland county John Mandeville Gallatin county and Bob Lenhart Yellowstone county. The tour will visit the Colorado Farm Bureau office and a detailed report will be given to members at the Farm Bureau convention in Bozeman in November.
Ballots have been received in Teton county for state city county and school district employees who will vote Oct 10 in the first referendum on Social Security. Workers from towns counties schools and state departments will choose whether to alter their present retirement plans a second referendum may follow in 1966.
The North Central Montana Council launchs a regional drive Oct 10 15 to fund scouting services for Chateau and 17 counties. Robert Gormley chairs local efforts with 15 man teams from American Legion Choteau Lions and Odd Fellows, aiding training camps and events at Camp Napi.

Three Cut Bank residents were hospitalized after a car driven by George Watson failed to negotiate a curve on U S Highway 89 seven miles south of Dupuyer. Watson suffered a severe wound to his arm and other injuries. his passengers Richard Dubray and his wife sustained cuts and bruises. The 1955 Pontiac, with 1000 miles, was demolished after tumbling 500 feet. Watson was thrown 46 feet. A bystander tow incident near Bill's place caused a jeep to pile up but no injuries occurred.
County Assessor Fred Woodward releases figures showing a taxable value increase of 588000 over 194 counts in Teton County. Total cash value 37178211 with taxable value 10320234, plus farm and town lot improvements, personal property, and state land contracts. The overall tax levy totals 1324809 with about 630255 earmarked for schools.
Howard Anderson Post No. 4605 VFW will hold a Ring Neck Derby for pheasant hunters in Teton county. Officials said judging method is not settled yet and will be announced in the next issue of the paper.
Teton county hosts the annual 4 H recognition event at Fairfield this Saturday October 8. Four H members who have completed their projects and requirements will be recognized for their achievements.
The second annual Ranch Hand rodeo sponsored by the Choteau Roping Club last Sunday drew a strong crowd. The show featured rough stock and tight competition with only 13 of 45 riders posting a qualified ride, marking it as one of the fastest events in years.
Jimmy Connole 12 of this city won first in a youth safety contest by the Great Falls Moose Lodge for rescuing Connie Poore 12 from drowning after ice broke on a Skating pond last Dec 23. Barbara Wells placed second for a safety essay. The event drew 100 contestants and over 1300 dollars in prizes.
Teton County and other Montana areas seek rain to aid seeding as winter wheat growers report about half the crop seeded. Early germination is good in Flathead and Broadwater counties, fair in Teton and neighboring counties, while bean and alfalfa harvesting progresses. Livestock movements to fall ranges are expected to begin around Oct. 10 amid groundwater shortages.
Mrs. Jay Robinson president of the American ey of Montana attended fall of Districts No. 7 Stick Timbernik District Here at Denton. Tonight Mr and Mrs Robinson attend a dinner in Helena where Gov Hugo Aronson will present awards then they will fly to Miami as official delegates.
Teton County Farm Bureau will meet next Monday for an all day session to draft policy recommendations for the state convention. The agenda includes officer elections at the Odd Fellows hall with free lunch, followed by an annual banquet at Lions club hall where Billings speaker Bill Hagen will address attendees.
The Sunburst Refiners and the Shelby Coyotes share the top spot in the northern conference standings. Shelby defeated Choteau Bulldogs 38-14 with a 19-0 first half lead and 31-0 after three quarters. Jim Lohse scored for Choteau early in the final period while Shelby sealed scoring on a 15-yard run. This Friday Choteau meets Cut Bank Wolves, who have one conference win and one loss.
