Punt Pass and Kick Winners Named at High School Field

Eighty of eighty nine registrants competed in the annual Punt Pass and Kick contest at the high school field with Bob's Ford Sales sponsoring. Winners in each age group received trophies based on distance and accuracy scores, with Keith Van Setten and Pat Whealey among top finishers.

Soroptimists Donate Unimeter to Choteau Hospital

The Soroptimist Club of Choteau donated a unimeter to Teton Memorial Hospital enabling faster blood analysis in house. They also refurbished the Soroptimist shelter in the city park with restaining a new cement floor and new furniture.

Mary Baskett Dies in Missouri

Mary Baskett, former Choteau resident, died in Malta Bend Missouri on October 1. Funeral services were held in Malta Bend the following Wednesday. She moved to Choteau in August 1940 after marrying Horace Baskett and returned to Missouri in October 1959 after Baskett’s death in April 1959. Memorials may be sent to the Chateau Methodist Church or Teton Memorial Hospital.

Methodist Women Convene in Falls For District Meeting

The Womans Society of Christian Service district meeting will be held at West Side Methodist Church in Great Falls on Monday Oct 9. Registration runs 9 to 10 a.m. Vivian Otto a Rhodesia missionary will speak in the morning followed by Miss Otto’s career notes. Rev Don Hamilton will discuss ecumenicity in the afternoon. The City Council approved two new homes in southwest town limits with Garages and a sidewalk project at the bi monthly meeting. Noted Fishing Trip Ends in Wyoming Lake Tour

Mr and Mrs Joseph Knudtzon returned from Lovell Wyoming after a fishing trip in the Bighorn Mountains and a boat trip with the Lovell Commercial Club down the Big Horn Canyon to the Yellowtail Dam. They spent time touring and were joined on the return by Mrs Alice M Showalter the mother of Mrs Knudtzon who will visit about two weeks.

Services Held For A Nowlin

Funeral services for Albert Oswald Nowlin 81 were held Monday at the Choteau Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Burial was in Choteau Cemetery. Nowlin died Wednesday Sept 27 in Sandpoint Idaho. He was born in Edenville Michigan and lived in Dutton Thompson Falls Clark Fork and finally in Idaho. Survivors include his widow Ethel three sons Albert Jr James and Jack six daughters Vera Helen Katherine Betty Fern Marji and numerous grandchildren. One daughter Alberta Crawford preceded him in death.

Plans Under Way For Chateau Airport Dedication

The Cham ber of Commerce discussed reviving a Chateau Airport dedication after September plans were canceled due to project delays. Lloyd Pedersen of the Treasure State Agricultural Association suggested a barbecue with Ear Mountain Flying Club providing beef, and the committee will fix a date and arrange speakers and dignitaries for a tentative October 28 ceremony.
