Dillon Youth Returns From War Voyage On Freighter
Harry Colfer, 22, recounts his September voyage from Europe to the United States aboard the American freighter Black Heron. He found work through the German consul at Rotterdam amid rising hostilities as France and England declared war on Germany and Athenia was torpedoed. The ship survived 11 days at sea, docking in New York September 14 after crossing the Atlantic from Germany where he had studied and visited relatives.

Montana state highway engineers prep to let more than 3 million dollars in road and bridge projects this fall aiming to contract a two year program covering 1938 and 1939. They will match about 6 million dollars in state and federal funds after voters approved a 3 million debenture issuance.

Falls Firm Adds New Paper Line From Tested Papers
J. J. Flaherty of Great Falls Paper Co returns from Chicago where he attended the Tested Papers of America Inc first convention held Sept 21. The Montana distributor holds the state franchise for Tested Paper products with Missoula through Great Falls centers. National rollout to start in November with ads and merchandising. 160 distributors from 73 percent of key U S markets attended. Flaherty also joined the National Paper Trades association three day meeting Sept 18-20.
