Montana duck season opened Sunday after the biological survey urged the state fish and game commission to move up the dates from October 22 to December 22 to October 1 to November 15. Hunters reported good bags thanks to plentiful water holes though frost may end the spree soon. Laborer-Patrolman Leon Snyder noted Split Rock lake is outside the refuge while Pishkun Willow Creek and Benton Lake are included and gun use is restricted there.

The county agricultural planning committee schedules three special committees on Tuesday afternoon October 10 to meet with M P Hansmeier extension soil conservationist and H G Bolster extension economist to discuss the soil conservation district law and the gross conservation law for Teton county. Forest Service representatives are invited to discuss possible roles in erosion control land use and range management. Farmers are urged to attend and offer suggestions. The land tenure and credit committee meets in the morning to discuss agricultural credit and leasing policies for the county.
Notices from Dr. O A Kenck of Augusta district chairman announce a district Boy Scout committee meeting at the courthouse in Chateau Monday at 8 p m. Amby Frederick describes a forthcoming youth dinner with church lodge club school and other organization representatives to hear character building programs for all youths. All district committeemen are urged to attend.
The Rev. Dr. B. M. Hegge, pastor of United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Park Illinois, will speak at Dutton Lutheran Church Tuesday Oct 10 at 730 pm and at St. Pauls Lutheran Fairfield Wednesday Oct 11 at 730 pm. He is a well known preacher lecturer and radio speaker, currently touring the West Coast for engagements in Moscow Idaho Tacoma and Portland. He began ministry in China before returning to America serving in Moscow and Tacoma prior to his 1937 move to Oak Park.
Ross Gilbert Randall 52, a longtime Fairfield area farmer, died instantly last Saturday afternoon when a four horse team bolted as he was hitching to a binder. He died from skull fracture, neck injury and chest trauma after being crushed by the bull wheel and trucks while attempting to control the team. He lived on the Fairfield place since 1917 after moving from Iowa. Surviving wife Elma Abbott and five children plus four grandchildren, seven brothers and two sisters. Funeral held Wednesday at 2 pm at the Community church in Fairfield.

Funeral services for Mrs Julia McArdle were held at St. Patrick's church in Bynum on Saturday September 30. A solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated with Rev J F Schulte as celebrant and Rev J McHugh as deacon. Interment followed at Mount Olive cemetery in Great Falls. Surviving relatives include eight children and fourteen grandchildren with two great grandchildren.

George Jackson has been chosen as the new clerk of School District No 1 to replace Buell Roll who has left Chateau. A new board member is Bill Olsen joining Carl Wedum Paul Kropp Wayne Gillette and Al Strom as the rest of the board.
The Teton Bulldogs stay undefeated in divisional play by defeating Browning 13 to 7. Browning struck first after a LeDesky injury on kickoff, but Teton answered with a second‑half surge led by Bleecker behind strong line play and key blocks.
Twelve Christmas bags containing gifts and holiday goodies were mailed by the county Red Cross to the San Francisco office for dispatch to U.S. soldiers overseas. Miss Margaret Nagle announced the effort and thanked contributors from Tutton Red Cross Colling H. D. club ME church Pendroy Catholic church Pendroy ME church Chotesau Catholic church Choteau Farmington H H D club American Legion Choteau plus many merchants. Cards included for acknowledgments. A letter from a Samoa based soldier last year expressed appreciation.
The All County Chorus plans a concert on the third night of Chautauqua and will hold its second practice in Chateau high school auditorium tonight at 8 p m. Remaining rehearsals include Thursday October 12 at the high school at 7 p m and a dress rehearsal Tuesday October 17 at 8 p m. Mrs Bullerdick is accompanist, the group will perform Sunday October 22 with five numbers, and a Men's Chorus Women’s Chorus and a Men's Quartet will also perform.
