Edward J Hirshberg Dies at Home in City
Edward J. Hirshberg, 55, banker and merchant, long a prominent figure in Teton county, died Tuesday morning at his Chateau home after years of illness. Born in Fort Benton in 1880 to Joseph and Eva Hirshberg, he helped found Hirshberg Brothers Bankers and later the First National Bank in Chateau. Survived by wife Gertrude, children Eva Beckman and Lee Hirshberg, brothers Sid and Julius, and several relatives, the funeral will be held today at 1 PM in Chateau, with burial in Highland cemetery, Great Falls.

Catherine Baart aged 65 wife of County Commissioner J A Baart died Monday evening at 7 15 at her home in Chateau Wisconsin born March 17 1870 in Shullsburg daughter of Owen Carey and Anna McGrath Carey married in Shullsburg on Thanksgiving day November 27 1901 to J A Baart. Funeral held 10 am today at St Luke s church with solemn high mass. Interment in Chateau cemetery.

Helena engineer Chas Farmer outlined survey results costs and water capacity. A PWA grant of 63000 is pending approval with 70 percent repayable over 20 years, bond financing being explored.

A plan for countywide meetings to educate contractors and achieve full attendance was set, though scheduling was delayed by missing Washington blanks.

Business houses in the city closed for an hour this morning for the funeral of Mrs. J. A. Baart and again from 12:30 to 2:00 for E. J. Hirshberg whose service is at 1 PM. Hirshberg's store is closed all day. Deputy Sheriff J. B. Olson’s funeral date had not been announced.

Deputy Sheriff Olson Fatally Shot in Dutton Street Attack
Deputy Julius B. Olson died after being shot near Krause's pool hall in Dutton. Investigators searched for Bert Bolland, seen with a rifle nearby, as a large regional manhunt continued. Autopsy showed the bullet entered Olson's torso from the front and caused fatal internal injuries.
