Montana Farmers Union President Gordon Arges urged backing House Bill No. 13787 the Melcher Bill at the Ton County Farmers Union meeting in Chateau Saturday. The measure would extend 1985 farm programs, strengthen feed grain and wheat supports, and create export certificates with parity.

Montana Lions Hear Patrol Captain on Speed Limits

Capt. John Heath of the Montana Highway Patrol told Chateau Lions Club members last week that 99 percent of accidents are driver caused. He argued for daytime speed limits, driver tests every four years, and promoted the Defensive Driving program. Heath cited alcohol and speed as major factors and urged contact with legislators. Pins awarded to club members capped a meeting focused on safety and cooperation.

Sadie Jean Baquet 82 died at Pondera Pioneer Home Conrad on Sept 26. Born Unionville Missouri May 28 1887 she married Clyde Baquet at Billings Aug 12 1914 and moved with him to Collins Montana. She taught in Missouri before substituting at Collins and helped organize the Collins Sunday School. Funeral Sept 30 Brady Methodist Church. burial Sunset Memorial Gardens Great Falls. Survivors include husband daughter Mildred Schlepp Conrad son Eugene Dutton seven grandchildren two great grandchildren three brothers and five sisters.

Teton Hospital Charged With Deficiencies by State Board

The State Board of Health found 29 deficiencies at Teton Memorial Hospital after an August 1 Medicare survey. Critics cited disorganized nursing, dietary maintenance gaps, drug storage rules, sterilized equipment storage, and medical record reorganization. Skyline Lodge Development in Final Stage

The Skyline Lodge retirement center in Teton County nears completion as directors hire a Great Falls architectural firm and a consultant. To obtain construction loan approval at least 75 residents must apply, with a public meeting set for Oct. 13 at 7 30 p m at Chateau United Methodist Church where Gene Todd and George Paige will present plans. Doctor Cannon To Open Office Next Week

Dr Porter S Cannon will open an office on Main Avenue beside the Cornell Hotel in Chateau next week after remodeling delays. Born in Lincoln Nebraska he earned his medical degree at the University of Nebraska and served three years in the Army Medical Corps. He practiced in Conrad from 1940 to 1967 and later in Yellowstone National Park before relocating. He is Montana Medical Association fellow and ex member of the State Board of Medical Examiners.

Ski-Doo Show Draws Local Crowd in Choteau

About 200 people attended a showing of the 1970 Ski-Doo snowmobiles at the Villager in Choteau last Saturday. Door prizes went to Keith Van Setten and Doug Forrest of Choteau, Dennis Maurer of Dutton, and Mrs. Art Mitchell of Choteau. Sponsors Harold Yeager and Ben Hoge of Teton Ski-Doo Sales organized the event to showcase the new models, accessories, and clothing.

Choteau Bulldogs Rally To Beat Chinook In Key Showdown

The Choteau Bulldogs erased a 16-0 deficit at Chinook to upset the Sugarbeeters 28-22 and stay alive for the Class B Conference crown. Casey Bilbro sparked a 90 yard kickoff return and a late fourth quarter drive capped by a Kelly to Martin pass for the decisive score. Snyder sealed the win with an interception in the final seconds.
