Robbery at Hatch Chevrolet Co. netted $1656 in loot
Two suspects held on $1000 bond after Hatch Chevrolet Co. robbery early Saturday. Thieves cracked a rear window safe, taking checks worth $1293.55 and $362.51 in cash. A green roofless pickup with a canvassed bed aided identification, leading to arrests in Augusta. Suspects Russell Sawers of Tacoma and LaVerne Hemaker of Tooele, Utah, face first degree burglary charges. Also reported stolen were Emil Durr’s .270 rifle and Vir ginia Durr’s saddle and bridle.

Karl Perkins, 16, of Bynum, was injured Sunday when a team of horses and a hay rack collided on the Perkins farm. The Department of the Interior announces a 60 day migratory bird hunting season from noon October 10 to December 8. Daily bag limits: ducks ten total with five in possession on day one. geese five with up to two Canadian geese. Shotgun up to 10 gauge or bow and arrow. One shell in barrel and two in magazine, with plugged-magazine rule. Hunters 16 or older need a valid federal duck stamp on a license. No grain lure or hunting within half a mile of grain feeding sites. Birds must be tagged with kill date and owner details when given away. Hunting hours start half an hour before sunrise, except day one.
