Teton FFA to Enter Two New State Contests
Teton FFA members will compete in the state meet in Bozeman in spring in the chapter activities contest and the Scrapbook contest. Eight scoring divisions include supervised practice, cooperative, community service, leadership, earnings and savings, meeting conduct, scholarship, and recreation. Local officers plan objectives under a committee led by Arnold Neiswender Alvin Meyer and Charles Rose. Montana Counties Cut Debt by Large Margin States Reports
Montana's 56 counties reduced aggregate indebtedness by about 50 percent in three years per the Montana Taxpayers association bulletin. Since 1923 county bonds declined 62 percent and warrant debt and surpluses improved, with Prairie county lacking bonds and several counties holding substantial cash to cover debts. The report notes wide variance in debt relative to assessed value and cites Musselshell as unable to pay obligations while Fergus and Sheridan secured better rates and Teton showed meaningful yearly reductions.

Miss Opal Moore Receives Surprise Miscellaneous Shower

County grader breaks main gas line near Choteau
A county grading outfit severed the principal gas main six miles north of Choteau causing a 1 pm to 6 pm outage. Valves were closed and service restored by 6 pm with meters fully reopened by about 10 pm. No serious injuries or losses reported, repairs exhibited at the Montana Dakota Utilities Co. office.

J. B. Elliott Dies Prominent Montana Rancher
J B Elliott a leading Montana livestock man and owner of about 6000 acres north of Roundup died last Friday at his home ranch 35 miles north of Roundup. He had shared ownership of the Teton county ranch with Henry Freeman and was known across the livestock world. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Elliott ranch with burial in Minerva cemetery.

Street in City Receives High grade Oiled Gravel Treatment
After two weeks of mixing, oiled gravel was spread and rolled on Division street the entrance to the new highway 23. Sidewalks from Third avenue to near the Bushman place were finished with the same material. The east end from the courthouse to the Methodist church was treated curb to curb and praised as nearly pavement. FE. C. Powell, contractor, supervised the work. Surface dirt was removed to 2 3 feet depth for sub base before binder and gravel. Oiling continues toward Vinker gate to join the finished section.
