MISSOULA MT Individuals and families may cut firewood in 16 national forests across Montana Idaho Washington North Dakota and South Dakota up to 10 cords of dead timber for domestic use with no permit but only on ownership land and not sold or traded Rangers advise checking with the local station for allowed areas and conditions and to leave roads clear while live trees are off limits

Chateau Nile Club No 2 held a special meeting Saturday November 10 at Mrs Sarah Kropps home to honor the Queen of Sapphira Temple No 79 Mrs Marjorie Taylor of Helena. Elk hunt permits possible in upper Gardiner area
Wynn Freeman of the Montana Department of Fish and Game says a special elk hunting season may open if conditions permit. Applications begin November 25 for Montana license holders with unused tags, with postmarks due by December 10 at the Helena office. The season depends on weather and elk movement from high winter ranges to lower Montana ranges near Yellowstone. Hunting seasons regulate elk numbers and protect forage.
