Fire destroyed the Kufug ranch house on Burton Beach. Pat Crossen owner Retail merchants of Choteau organized. A Cleland president H McCullough secretary. Five Choteau boys in an auto accident south of Agawam ran off a bridge.
Letter from Aviation Cadet Dave P. Rice of Pendroy, Montana, in Pasco Washington, describes daily flying, training in navigation and aerodynamics, and his upcoming transfer to an advanced base at Corpus Christi Texas. He shares pride in Montana cadets and hopes for continued success as he pursues wings and combat duty against Japan.
The newly organized Lutheran Brotherhood held its first meeting at the church last Thursday. Mr. Swenson read scripture, Robert Gronberg led songs with Miss Lee at the piano, and A C Hanusa explained objectives. John Billings read bylaws as members acted favorably, with cornet solos by John Billings and Miss Winterfeld, and a speech by George Carroll on Americanism.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Deaver marked their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at their Bynum home. Married November 12, 1892 in Ross Wisconsin they moved to Montana in 1911. The event drew daughters grandchildren and many friends including local residents and Helena visitors.
Rev. Bert I. Powell announces plans for a community Thanksgiving service at the Chateau Methodist Church. The program will include music speaking prayer and other numbers with a special sermon titled Being Thankful With Reality. The public is invited to attend to observe the day as timely and necessary.
The Post Office Department faces its largest Christmas mail movement with tens of thousands of workers, wartime strain on rail and air networks, and added service for armed forces. Officials urge earlier mailing and proper addressing as the wartime volume rises about 30 percent due to free military mailing.
A press club revival meeting featured Pat Campbell and his Broadway Chorus as the headline entertainment. Six muscular dancers performed a routine before a stern audience that voiced its disapproval of the act during the social gathering at Ohio State University.

The Teton County Shipping Association will ship the annual Christmas turkeys on Tuesday December 1 at the Legion Hall in Chateau. More birds are expected this year, with growers increasing flocks and farmers urged to meet federal grading standards for top grades.
County wide gasoline rationing registration under the mileage program continues with headquarters at Chateau, Pendrey Dutton, and Fairfield. H. M. Daley chairs the rationing board. registration ends Friday. Motorists should obtain blanks at garages or stations, list tire serial numbers, and present the owner's registration card to receive basic A ration books.
A Montana Power Company supplement to the War Production Preference Rating order blocks extending a three wire electric service to a house that only has gas range connections. The restriction affects owners moving into such homes.
The notice outlines how car owners access tire inspection records and obtain supplemental gasoline rationing forms from the registrar. It states that applications for supplemental rationing go to the local board after November 20 and that the nationwide mileage rationing program begins December 1.
In Power and nearby towns tributes flow for two longtime figures. Charles Albert Lamke, gunner's mate second class, killed in action November 4 1942, leaves wife Julia F Lamke and a young son in Colville Washington with extended family in Power and Minneapolis. John Zimmerman 86 longtime Fairfield area pioneer and first Teton County sheriff dies in Seattle after a life of ranching farming and public service. He helped found Fairfield post office and was a dedicated Model T enthusiast. The funerals and lodge rites proceed in Chateau and Fairfield with Masonic participation.
Word arrived of the Armistice day death of D L Saddler in Little Rock Arkansas. He was father of Mrs H W Bateman and brother of Mrs Phil S Cole of Choteau. Survivors include a son D L Saddler Jr of Little Rock. Funeral was held there last Friday. Mrs Cole will not return to Choteau until after the holidays.
The Chateau Volunteer Fire Department responded Monday at 5 p.m. to the Louis Dewitz home after an overheated stove pipe ignited the ceiling and attic. Firefighters cooled the flames with buckets, then cut a roof hole to pour in water, with water and smoke damage as the main loss.

They may add more lines while also using the former Ely Catholic Church as storage for wheat and feed.
