Armistice Day Observed by President Coolidge at Arlington

President Coolidge laid a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington as Armistice Day tribute. Thousands attended the ceremonies at the memorial amphitheatre while Bishop McDowell urged Americans to keep faith and resist complacency. The president, Mrs Coolidge, aides, Weeks and Roosevelt attended the services after arriving at 10 o clock.

Methodist Episcopal Church Bazaar Draws About 200 Dollars

The Ladies Industrial bazaar brought in about 200 dollars from all departments. Lawrence Skinner led sales that pleased the Chateau and Pendroy congregations. Epworth League plans a six week Bible study and devotional meeting after the 6 30 p m session. Services held Sunday include 10 30 a m worship 11 30 a m Sunday school and 7 30 p m evening service. Pendroy Ladies Aid to hold bazaar and lunch on Saturday Nov 24. Choteau Hardware Co offers a complete toy line.

Ott Brown pair wed in Cowgill area ceremony

Fritz Ott and Sarah Nina Brown of LaGrande Oregon were united in marriage last Thursday evening at the George W Magee residence in the Cowgill addition. Justice of the Peace C H Ferris performed the ceremony. Ott formerly lived in Pendray country and after a short visit will return to Oregon.

Bandits Strike Fairfield Bank Again in Dramatic Break‑In

Bandits cut wires and blew open the Fairfield First National Bank using an acetylene torch but failed to gain cash. The safe and vault were damaged beyond repair with a large hole drilled and locks burned. About fifty deposit boxes were broken into while investigators seek the suspects likely fled toward Canada.

Farmer Gus Depner of Farmington reports a grain overflow accident at his wheat granary. Night leakage caused four horses in the field to ingest grain, resulting in three deaths and a fourth being shot the next day due to injuries.

High School Notes Recap of Week Activities and Sports

The Agriculture class held a post mortem on a horse and demonstrated turkey picking by Bing Hodgkiss. The class shop work began and a breakfast was cooked by the cooking class. Students weighed in with fewer underweight reports. Library books are requested for return. Basketball practice started and the school split into two divisions for a selling contest. Spark Plugs collected 88 subscriptions and Barney Googles 87, funds to buy drums. orders placed for five horns and a piano for the orchestra. The football season ended with Fort Benton winning 7 to 6 after a contested drive and a touch down by a linabirek.

Jones wins prize for corn at 4620 feet altitude

Prize corn grown at an altitude of 4620 feet by W. D. Jones of Bynum took first prize at the North Central Montana Corn Show in Great Falls for best and most mature exhibit. Jones’ corn was grown at a higher altitude than any other entry and was in a fine maturation stage. Dance at Belleview school house Thanksgiving night November 29.

Grasshopper Campaign Saves County Wheat in 1923

In Teton County 570 farmers used arsenic and bran against grasshoppers, saving an estimated 525000 dollars on wheat. About 730000 pounds of bran and 22500 pounds of acetate were used, with syrup substitution to cut costs. Farmers voted 3 to 1 that aid should continue next year.
