Harry Smith Dies on French Battlefield in WWI
Word from Great Falls reports Harry Smith, a member of Cha teau Co. M., Second Montana Infantry and later the 168th Infantry, killed in action in France on October 8. He was well known locally, lived here until recent years, and had worked in Great Falls. He is brother to Captain C. James Smith and Jos. Smith of Bynum. Friends regret his death in the great war.

Secretary of State C T Stewart estimated the total ballots cast in the absent soldier vote would not exceed 1,000. About 60 voted ballots arrived by mail today, 217 had been received previously, and over 56,000 of 7,200 ballots sent to camps were returned unopened.
