Pioneer House in Choteau to Become Apartments
Owner Babe Russell announced that the original Choteau House hotel in the business district will be remodeled into four apartments two two bedroom and two one bedroom units all with private baths. Irvin Moon and Bob Dunn will supervise work and asbestos siding will be added to the west side later. A laundry room and an office are included in the plans.

Local court fines hit for speed, flares, disorderly conduct
In Justice Sulgrove's court Kenneth L. Brown of Choteau paid a ten dollar fine for exceeding the 45 mph truck limit. Frank of Great Falls forfeited ten dollars for failure to carry flares on his truck. Bob Day of Choteau appeared Nov 8 and was fined twenty five dollars for drunken and disorderly conduct. In Justice Irwin's court Wirs Mildred Glase of Butte forfeited ten dollars for reckless driving. Wallace Martinson of Choteau was fined twenty five dollars and costs for killing a deer in a closed area. he was arrested by Deputy Game Warden Paul Mihalavich of Augusta Sunday.

NAAA Property Sold to Colquitt Drilling Firm
The former Northwest Agricultural Aviation Corporation hanger and shop south of Chateau on U S Highway 89 were bought by Bill Colquitt. Forty eight lots were part of the sale. Vernon Boucher, previously with Bond Garage, joins Colquitt to run the NAAC building as a repair shop. Colquitt contracts with Shell Ot Co and drills water wells. he has drilling rigs and earlier worked for Herbert Hoover Jr. in California and other western states.

State official pushes 20 percent county assessment rise
At Helena Friday Jack Reed of the State Board of Equalization urged Montana assessors to seek a 20 percent overall increase in 1955 valued assessments. He warned counties failing to show gains could lose statewide allocation streams while clarifying that targeted property revaluations are needed and blanket increases may accompany reclassifications.

Potter to speak at high school on civil defense

Civil Defense heads urged to organize teams and train
Committee chiefs were urged to select personnel quickly and train them for Civil Defense tasks. Bridenstine said meeting minimum Civil Defense requirements within a year would be a success and stressed accurate records and a trained auxiliary police force of at least 20, plus fire and rescue teams. State leaders estimate 5,000 civilians could be evacuated to Chateau if attacked. A future meeting will set deadlines and unit leaders will organize with state and local aid. Mayor Halvorson called for public education on dangers and noted National Director Val Peterson’s Finland trip.

Car Crash on Sunnyslope Road Causes $300 Damage
A Sunday accident on Sunnyslope road 1% miles east of State 33 damaged a car about $300. Lydia Glass received a careless driving citation. Her husband John Glass and their two children were in the car when it slid 8 feet into a barrow pit after a sharp curve. No injuries. Patrolman Henry Helf investigated and the car returned to Butte after emergency repairs in Augusta.
