Chateau High School girls varsity beat Shelby 47-26 on Friday with Theresa Scott scoring 25 points on 11 of 17 shooting and 3 of 4 at the line. The following night Chateau lost to Conrad 30-25 as Scott and teammates faced tough defense and a cold shooting finish.

Judge Rules Against June Bynums Claim in County Work Case

Judge Russell E. Smith in Great Falls federal court ruled June E. Bynum of Chateau was not entitled to back pay back fringe benefits or damages nor reinstatement from the Teton County Sheriff's office. The decision found her duties did not equal those of male deputies, denying the claim.

Annual Cantata Practice Begins

Rehearsals started last Thursday for the annual Christmas cantata led by Lloyd Reynolds. They run through November with a tentative performance on Sunday December 18. New singers are invited to join the next rehearsal on Thursday November 10 at 8 p.m. at the Methodist Church.

New Hospital Nursing Care Wing Opens at Teton Medical Center

Tom Dunlap, administrator at Teton Medical Center, announced this week that the long term nursing care wing is ready for occupancy and accepting patients. The wing offers nursing care, physical therapy, speech therapy and recreational therapy. Interested persons may contact Dunlap at the hospital for details.

Burglary and Fire Hit Bynum Victims

The Brandvolds report two crimes in weeks with a burglary at the Rock Shop on Oct 29 and a straw stack fire on a following Saturday night. Jewelry worth over 4000 was stolen from the shop while the Chateau and Pendrey Fire Departments and Miller Colony Hutterites helped contain the blaze, keeping adjacent buildings safe as crews worked through the night.
