In Montana, Gov. J Hugo Aronson retained the office defeating Arnold Olsen after Le Roy Anderson unseated Rep. Orvin B Flare in the second district race. President Eisenhower carried 41 states with a 58 percent popular vote, while local results showed Democrats winning most county posts. Veterans Day retreat ceremony to be held at county courthouse
Chateau Legion and VEW Joint in observance of Veterans day sponsor a 3 30 p m retreat ceremony in front of the county courthouse featuring color guards National Guard troops and the Chateau high school band led by John Daly. Buglers will sound retreat a rifle salute then the flag will be lowered as the National Anthem plays observers should stand with hats removed and vehicles stop. Chateau school will dismiss early and Legionnaires and VFW members plan post ceremony refreshments and a 8 p m post meeting for photographs for records.

Yeager Well Reaches 4659 Feet Near Chateau
The Philips-Yeager oil well 12 miles southwest of Chateau reached the Madison formation top at 4659 feet yesterday afternoon. Drillers were at about 60 feet into the interval at 2 p.m. Wednesday and found porosity with sulphur water, not oil in commercial quantities.

C P Lien 73 Dies Buried in North Dakota
C P Lien aged 73 of Frod Montana retired well driller died October 31 in a local hospital. Born June 13 1883 in Junnen Norway he came to America in 1906 settling in Hanks North Dakota. Survivors include Lester Lien and five daughters with addresses in Germany Texas California and North Dakota. Funeral services were held at Grenora Methodist Church last Saturday.

Ed Forrest Dies After Lingering Illness Sunday
Teton County pioneer Edward D Forrest died Sunday after a lingering illness one day before his 86th birthday. He was born November 5, 1870, moved to Montana in 1899, served as Teton County treasurer from 1912 and as deputy county treasurer 1925-29. He retired to Great Falls then Cha teau. He is survived by his widow two children seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Otto Waynild Hugh Wrapper Gordon Monkman Jim Robison N W Edwards and William Olson.
