Unofficial county results indicate about 85 percent turnout with Republicans winning most contests. W D Jones and Geo M Coffey Jr were re elected as county commissioner and county attorney by margins of 305 and 188, respectively, in a broad GOP victory across districts and precincts.
Teton County High School defeated Fort Benton 13 to 0 on a local field before a fair crowd. Bud Burns and Tommy Winner starred as Teton built a season record of 233 points while shutting out all opponents this year.
Early returns show Governor Al Smith leading Republican Ogden Mills by over 200000 votes to secure a fourth term. Prohibition repeal measures in several states also show varied results with California Missouri and Colorado voting and Wisconsin leaning in favor.
E H Myrick will leave Lewis and Clark Forest headquarters at Chateau January first to oversee the St Joe Forest with headquarters at St Mary's Idaho. The transfer advances his career and places him in line for district office promotion. W E Lockhart will succeed him as supervisor, coming from Miles City with A D Moir remaining as deputy.
In a youth game the frosh won 40 to 0 over the eighth graders. Bud Moore scored on a center rush after Benton received, and Bud Burns intercepted and ran in a second touchdown. The varsity game ended 13-0 with Teton ahead as Bud Burns added the late turnover and score.
Early returns show Scott Leavitt, Republican, leading Harry B. Mitchell, Democrat, for Congress from Montana's Second District by about 8 000 votes with potential gains. Other contests favor Galen Holloway and Dennis for associate justices and railroad commissioner, while Evans may hold First District seat. Wet vote favored repeal of the dry law, Good Roads initiative carried, while Referendum 29 and insurance tax measure failed. In Cascade County, Wuerthner led Liptak with about 300 votes. Bob Gordon led Norton for sheriff. Meigs led Cowley for eighth district judge.
The 1926 Te ton County Shipping Association plan to load turkeys at Chateau next Monday November 8. Turkeys and chickens to be dry picked and well dressed with strict cooling rules. Prices cited as better than last year and shippers notified by card.
Dr. A B Gray and Dr Geo E Keller announced yesterday the dissolution of their partnership at the Chateau Clinic and Glenloyd hospital. Gray will keep an office and hospital space in the Lar son Block, while Keller will operate from Room 16 in the same building.
The Epworth League hosted a Halloween party at the M E church last Friday evening. A large group of young people enjoyed ghost stunts games and a dancing skeleton before refreshments and departure.
Guy Pratt of Gilford Montana and Miss Geraldine Hadley of La Center Washington wed at the Methodist parsonage in Chateau last Thursday. Rev. Robert B. Culbertson officiated with Mr and Mrs Alvin Co Hull of Collins as witnesses. The couple will reside on the Hull ranch near Collins this winter while the Hulls are away in California.
