A Chateau chapter of the American Pioneer Trails association will be formed this evening at 8 p m in the Beaupre Hotel dining room. Joe L Markham executive vice president of the Montana Council will address the meeting. The program aims to preserve Montana's pioneer heritage with trails marked and an educational plan for adults and youth.

Local Servicemen Earn Air Medals and Promotions
Harvey L. Dale of Chateau a B-17 engineer gunner at an England bomber base recently earned an oak leaf cluster to the Air Medal for courage, coolness and skill, following wings won at Las Vegas in 1944. Arnold M. Pederson of Dutton, a B-24 copilot with the 11th Heavy Bombardment Group in the Marianas, has been promoted to first lieutenant after completing 40 air combat missions against Japan and participating in 25 pre invasion bombings of Iwo Jima and bombings of Marcus Chichi Jima Haha Jima Pagan and Truk. he wears the Air Medal and six Oak Leaf Clusters and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre ribbon with stars.

Fairfield Girl Wins State Dairy Essay Contest
May Tracy of Fairfield, in 8th grade, won first prize in both regional and state dairy essay contests on "The Contribution of the Dairy Cow to Montana." She received $25 war bonds for regional and state wins, with Emma Clark as her Fairfield teacher. Patricia Houfek of Fairfield earned an honorable mention in the 5th and 6th grade group among 34 county submissions. Six Montanan judges evaluated the essays.

Commencement Exercises at Teton High Spark Hopeful Messages

Community grads honored as Ezell baby remains ill
Collins News Jr. and Mrs. Alvin Reiquam joined the community for the Friday Chateau event where their son Howard studied this year and attended the Commencement. Joseph K. Howard delivered the address and Herman Huisenga received special recognition from our community. The Ezell baby is home but in fragile condition.
