A large turnout discussed the May 19 special school election on the Choteau high school addition and new grade school. The grade school plan received broad support while concerns about high school funding and site suitability drew questions and critique.

Arnold Hanusa chairs the Teton county U S Savings Bonds committee as the Independence Bond drive runs May 15 through July 4. The Treasury aims to raise 65 million dollars in Series E bonds with three million volunteers, symbolized by 48 Liberty Bell duplicates touring many communities. The kickoff at Independence Hall in Philadelphia will feature President Truman and Treasury Secretary Snyder.

VFW Auxiliary Plans Clothes Exchange and Pie Sale

Land work crew to measure crop land in Teton county

Jake Luinstra chairman of the Teton county PMA office announced that all crop land in Teton county will be measured in 1950. The measure is compulsory for 1950 acreage allotments. About 20 field supervisors will be hired starting May 22 for 60 days. Interested parties should contact the PMA office in Chateau. Farmers unregistered for 1950 must sign up by May 20.

Canvassers Finish House-to-House Sign Collection Soon

Eddie Howard announced that all canvassers for the street and avenue sign collection project must finish house-to-house rounds by this weekend. He said a full financial report will be prepared next Monday or Tuesday, after which new Chateau street and avenue signs will be ordered.

Choteau high school band will participate in the Havre Music festival this weekend May 13. Thirty nine bands are entered in the festival. The Choteau band will travel to Havre on a chartered Greyhound bus.

Fort Benton collects 28 points to top Conrad 22 and others in brisk wind. Embleton led with 15 points on three firsts. Bokma of Conrad had 10 from two firsts. Chinook won the relay and the Johnny Malone gold cup as results detail pole vault, broad jump, high jump, discus, shot, javelin, and sprint events with times and distances.

Graduation Dates For Classes Set

Graduation exercises for the 1950 Chateau high school class are set for Wednesday night May 24 in the high school auditorium. Teton Hospital Receives First Federal Construction Installment

The Montana state health board mailed a $38,546.62 warrant to the Teton Memorial hospital association in Choteau as the first federal payment toward the $204,950 project. The 25 bed hospital is about 80 percent done with final work expected by early summer.

Three Authors Visit Choteau During Tour

Pulitzer winner A B Guthrie Jr with Bernard DeVoto and Commander William J.
