The ambulance committee from Teton Memorial Hospital met with representatives from Ferrie Dutton Pendrey Augusta and Chateau to discuss securing a permanent ambulance unit and drivers. Milton McNea currently uses a private car for ambulance runs and a new vehicle is sought. last year 35 calls were logged, 25 in the city, all by Banks Ambulance. Two committees were formed to pursue talks with the city council and county commissioners as immediate action is urged in this community need.

Carrier Kearsarge completes pilot landing qualifications
Lt. Carl B. Field of the Naval Reserve in Great Falls returns from a two week cruise aboard the attack aircraft carrier Kearsarge CVA 33. The ship trained pilots for 780 arrested landings off southern California. Kearsarge, modernized in February at a cost of 9 million, features a cantilever flight deck and sails with a 890 foot length.

Funeral services held for Tral B. Hardy in Montana
Tral B. Hardy 70 a longtime Teton county resident died April 24 at Fort Harrison VA Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born June 22 1886 in Dallas Oregon he homesteaded near Connor Montana and married Helen Rider in 1919. Survivors include daughter Alma Hitchcock son Glenn Hardy six grandchildren and sister Lela Hannah. Funeral was at First Methodist church with Rev Grant Moore officiating. pallbearers named. Relatives from Willow Creek and Plains attended.

Fire ruptures trailer blaze injuring K Lussenden
Kenny Lussenden of Chateau suffered burns to hands face and legs in an early morning trailer fire behind the Keith McFarlane home on Choteau. McFarlane said Lussenden woke and lit a cigarette when a butane line at the stove ignited, causing an explosion that scorched his arms legs and hair.

New Safeway Manager Takes Post At Choteau Store
Jack Carpenter assistant manager at the Safeway in Helena is named manager of the Choteau store. He arrived this week to begin duties. Carl Stav departs Saturday to lead Safeway at the West Park Street store in Butte. Stav and his family will move to Copper City after housing is found. they have lived in Ray Kellys apartment since January 1966. Stav began in Choteau January 1 1956 succeeding Bruce Thompson. Stav has previous Safeway experience in Deer Lodge Dillon and Butte and is a Deer Lodge native.

The Choteau Grade School hosts the first annual Track and Field Play Day this Saturday May 4 drawing about 100 boys from Choteau Conrad Fairfield Cut Bank Helena Valier Power Augusta and others for 128 ribbons in eight events plus a 440 yard relay. Events run from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm with two divisions Class A over 110 pounds and Class B 110 pounds or under.
