Odd Fellows Celebrate 50th Year Here

The Odd Fellows marked the 127th anniversary of Odd Fellowship in America and the 50th year of the lodge at Chateau with a Saturday hall celebration. Lee Roy Robinson opened the meeting, Cr. G. Monkman gave the invocation, and a banquet followed for Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, and families. Notable honors included 25 and 40 year pins for members, with Grand Master P. S. O Neal and Grand Secretary W. H. Johns absent.

Knights Templar Install New Officers At Friday Meeting

At a Friday night installation, E. R. Dial became commander of the local Knights Templar lodge. Also installed were C. D. McDonald as generalissimo, E. R. O'Neil as captain general, W. G. Irwin as senior warden, Jess Malone as junior warden, George Moore as prelate, A. A. Tesch as treasurer, G. L. Banks as recorder, Ted Halvorson as standard bearer, H. W. Bateman Jr as sword bearer, Lial Standish as warder, and Miles Standish as sentinel.

Ann Luinstra Weds Robert Waltermire in Choteau

Miss Ann Luinstra daughter of Mrs Annie Luinstra of Choteau married Robert Waltermire manager of the Choteau Flying Service at Trinity Lutheran church in a Sunday ceremony officiated by Rev A B Gravda. The bride wore a white satin gown with a fingertip veil and carried roses. Best man John Zuber and maid of honor June Knotts of Fargo attended. Afterward a church reception was hosted by Mrs F G Curtis. The couple honeymooned in eastern Montana. Waltermire, a former Missoula worker and Pan American flyer, is the son of Mr and Mrs W W Waltermire of Missoula.

Choteau Dutton Scouts Win Camporee Honors

Choteau and Dutton Boy Scout troops topped a two day camporee in the city park. Panther patrol of Choteau earned 64 points and prize rides, Dutton Panther patrol took 61 for a fire making kit, Eagle patrol placed third with 60 and won a pair of serenal flags.

Grade School Track Meet Set at Choteau High

Choteau eight graders will host Dutton in a cinder meet tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Choteau High School track. Star Don Arensmeyer is favored to lead in multiple events joined by Frank Austin Ray Nordhagen Charles Hanson Larman Bruneau Jerry Stenson Keith McFarland and Donald Anderson. Public invited free. other grade schools were invited but declined.

Billings Men Buy Wrixon Lockers in Chateau Food Locker Start

B H Reiner and R J Brickley of Billings purchase the Wrixon meat lockers and the upstairs apartments from Wil am Wrixon. The enterprise becomes the Chateau Food Locker with plans to add custom slaughtering and expand lockers.

Elk Count Totals 2579 in Haystack Sun River Area

Fourteen men from the United States Forest Service and the state game commission completed a late April game count. The survey covered from southwest of Haystack Butte to Deep Creek and west to the elk range. The largest herd numbered 800 on the North Fork of Sun River.

Fashion Follies Revue At Teton County High

The home economics department of Teton County high school presents Fashion Follies at 2 p.m. Tuesday May 7 in the high school auditorium. The revue humorously portrays the foibles of Womanhood with music and song as Dame Fashion. A Mother’s Day tea follows in the homemaking department.

Acantha Subscription Rates Increase in County

The Acantha raises its subscription price to 2.75 dollars starting May 15 in the county. Customers are notified of the new rate and renewal terms through the newspaper and local notices.

Farmers Urged to Deliver Wheat for 30c Bonus

Teton County farmers have 23 days to deliver wheat for a 30 cent per bushel bonus to be paid at settlement by the federal commodities credit corporation on contracts for wheat sold to the CCC. Certificates from elevators allow immediate cash or later sale through March 31 next year.

Dr. B. E. Kluge Opens Dental Practice in Chateau

Dr. Bo El Kluge a native of Billings and Northwestern trained dentist opens offices in Chateau and at the former Es P Ora quarters. He graduated Northwestern dental school in 1937 and completed internships at Eastman Dental Rochester. After practicing in Great Falls he served in the Army Air Corps before returning to Rochester. Married to Doris Kluge, he resides at the Glenloyd hotel.

Teton Winners Announced In Dairy Contest

The dairy division of the Department of Agriculture announces Teton county winners from the seventh and eighth grade and fifth and sixth grade categories. Patti Anna Houfek of Fairfield takes first in seventh and eighth. Beverly Bull of Fairfield takes second. LeRoy Schilling of Fairfield wins first in fifth and sixth. Howard Arensmeyer of Farmington takes second. Checks go to county superintendent Muriel S. Reiquam for distribution. About 30 essays were submitted from area schools.

Saddle Club Meeting Draws About 25 Riders

The Chateau Saddle club held its reorganization meeting Monday night with about 25 horseback enthusiasts attending. Officers will be elected and year’s activities planned at a gathering next Tuesday at 8 o’clock in Legion hall. All interested riders are invited.

Tesch Starts Implement Business Here

Charles Tesch announces the opening of Tesch Implement Co at the former Craig garage near the courthouse. The shop will sell Minneapolis Moline machinery tractors self propelled combines instillers balers and service equipment with repairs. A summer overhaul shop will be managed by the owner’s brother from Detroit as the building is renovated.
