The 32 piece Browning high school band led by L P Jackson performed at the high school auditorium drawing an enthusiastic crowd. Jas Eckford introduced the band and a bouquet was given to Jackson. The group will compete in the state music meet at Helena and will include solo contests in cornet saxophone clarinet and piano.

Unusually heavy precipitation reported by local weather office

Cemetery Improvement Plan For Chateau Grounds
Acting City Clerk John Moore announces soon start of cemetery beautification. About 300 pounds lawn grass seed will be sown this year. Orders include six dozen Prairie King rose bushes, one dozen Black Hill spruce from Treadwell Nursery, Great Falls. 800 green ash trees from city nursery to be planted. A 300 foot sweet pea bed will be prepared at Chateau Water works. ~40 new trees will replace damaged street parkings. Consultation with city officials urged for uniform improvement.

Cavings Delay Finish of Genoa No 3 Well Near Dutton
The Genoa Oil and Gas No 3 well in Bannatyne near Dutton will need several days to clean out cavings before completing into the producing sand. A rig collapse halted work on March 15 and a later cavings collapse filled the hole to 200 feet with debris. A second Genoa rig will be added along with Hard Rock’s offset to Genoa No 2, as oil shows stimulate field activity.

The Pendroy structure well drilled by H B Chessher and associates entered the Kootenai red beds at 1760 feet and found the beds green due to a chemical action. Chateau boys band gives street concert despite wind
The Chateau boys band performed Saturday night between seven and eight despite a raw wind. They played on the west side of the street in the lee of a business block in front of J. C. Penney Citizens Bank and the Chateau house. The ensemble included five cornets two baritones a bass trombone a slide trombone clarinet piccolo saxophone two altos and two drums. Leader Robert Clarkson says more basses clarinets and altos are needed and uniforms have not yet been secured.
