Trustees urge a three mill levy beyond the ten mill limit to avoid school shutdowns. Clerk John W Hall warns the district will be broke by May first without extra funds. February balance was 5693.90 and monthly costs run 2770. The proposed levy could cover May and September expenses, reducing warrants and interest.
Acting commanders of the local American Legion Post will oversee burials for World War Veterans under a county funded program. The law allocates 150 dollars for interment when no other funds exist and bans potter’s fields.
Digest from the Great Falls Tribune clarifies that the new Montana semi annual tax plan requires payments of one half by November 30 and the other half by May 31 each year with penalties for late payments. The interpretation by Cascade County Treasurer M D Nicholson confirms the first payment is due November 30 1924, not earlier. Personal taxes remain due when the assessment list is completed. Local banks and P H Crossen’s California trip noted.
Al Bosler a rancher in Dutton country was jailed on a larceny charge after deputies traced a July theft of a horse team belonging to George Youland. Bosler denied knowledge. a March 30 justice court hearing before J. E. DeHaas is scheduled.
Governor Dixon appointed Dr. Howard W. Bateman of Chateau to the state board of medical examiners until September 26 1923 to fill the unexpired term of the late Dr. P. H. McCarthy of Butte. Also named were Dr. A. A. Baker of Glendive to the dental board and Dr. B. L. Pamper of Livingston to the health board, both reappointed for five year terms ending March 2 1928.

Beardslee near Dutton reports sulfur water at 1750 feet and planned Madison tests.
