A Cham ber of Commerce meeting outlined plans to boost tourism in Chateau and nearby terrain for the coming season. Jack Baker urged cooperation with dwarf ranchers to attract visitors and keep them comfortable. The chamber will donate a 24 foot signboard to be placed at the highway intersection, and ranchers will supply two small signs for Wolf Creek. A committee will prepare an advertising folder with photos and copy to promote the region and tourism. After May 1 attendees will wear western attire to boost the Western theme.
The Lions Club scheduled Charter Night for Saturday May 10 at the high school with district clubs invited. Eddie Howard chaired a program featuring high school instrumentalists under Irshal Davis, including a state contest piece by Bob McDonald, Herb Anderson, Chas Tesch, Dean Swenson, and Billy Breen. Forest Ranger L J Howard and Ranger Tom Wiles described a nine day snowshoe trip, elk and other wildlife sightings, and trip details from Augusta to the primitive area.
L. H. Kempton of the Chamber of Commerce announces a community Easter egg hunt set for Saturday April 12 in Chateau. Up to 50 businesses donate eggs and prizes up to one dollar each, with 600 eggs hidden by the Boy Scouts in the city park and courthouse lawn. The event starts at 2 PM, weather permitting, with the city fire siren as the signal.

Mrs. Marie Heighton returned home Saturday from Livingston where she was summoned by the illness of her son Charles Heighton who died March 13 in a Livingston hospital from a heart attack. Charles E. Heighton was born October 8 1885 in Belleview and lived between here and Dupuyer before moving to a ranch near Livingston 17 years ago. He had been in poor health for years and is survived by his mother, a stepdaughter, a brother Earl Heighton, a sister Pearl Roll, one nephew and four nieces.
Rev C L Hicks of Helena spoke at the Teton Sun River Welfare Group meeting held at the Masonic Lodge rooms last Thursday evening. Masons from Augusta Fairfield Dut ton and Chateau attended about 75 in all. The four lodges meet four times a year in turn. Also present were Luther T Hauberg grand secretary R N Lodge assistant secretary Judge A H Angstman and Einod Summers of Helena.
Wayne Hart proprietor of the Husky service station south of town married last Thursday March 20 to Miss Myrtle McPhail of Anaconda. Ceremony held in the Presbyterian church with Rev. E Van Bachen officiating.
Support grows for an additional 12 mills levy on April 7 to fund the city museum. Current 2 mills for park and museum upkeep would rise to sustain exhibits valued around 5000 dollars and boost growth. The levy costs about 45 cents per 1000 of property value, roughly one dollar for the average homeowner.
At the annual Te ton County Sportsmen's Association meeting held Friday at the courthouse, H M Daley was unanimously reelected president. C Boi Davis was elected vice president and HK Cunningham secretary treasurer. Daley outlined recent game bills and the potential for a resident game warden in Te ton County.
State liquor officials in Helena announce hours revert to noon to 8 p m after April 1. Current hours are 10 a m to 6 p m. Administrator Ray L Wahl sent bulletins to all state liquor vendors notifying the change.
Bob McDonald of Pendray representing Teton county high school placed fourth in the district American Legion oratorical contest in Great Falls last Friday. Leo Graybill Jr of Great Falls won, Peggyee of Geraldine was second, and Marion Bowker of Fort Benton third. judge Atty. B. I. Packer of Choteau participated.
A large crowd bid farewell yesterday afternoon as eight Chateau area draftees left by bus for Fort Missoula. The sendoff featured the high school band, a Legion color guard, and a march to the depot amid drizzle. The next quota is three men to depart April 10, with local boards handling deferments and classifications under state selective service headquarters rules.
Closing of ticket sales shows over 460 copies sold for the 16th annual Farmers Fun Feed at the high school tonight. Doors open at 6 pm with community seating and program numbers before groups move to the gym for a baked ham dinner served by the home economics department. After dinner skits and a dancer cap the evening, continuing the county farmers social tradition.
Teton county unit of the Women's Field Army invites participation in April education efforts and financial support. The campaign, motto Early Cancer is Curable Fight it With Knowledge, lists local officers and a 69 member quota for the year 1941, noting 61 members in 1940.
