Mrs Guthrie Passes After Long Illness in Montana Town
Mrs. A B Guthrie 63 wife of Teton County High School's first principal died at her home in Choteau Montana at 2 45 am Saturday after a nine month illness. Born in Fortville Indiana she moved to Choteau in 1901 with her husband who led the new school. She was active in church and women's clubs and helped in community improvement. Funeral services were held Monday at the family residence with Rev Edwin Dover officiating and cremation follow. The school and courthouse closed in respect.

WPA Work Resumes On Hobson Addition Sewer Project
Work restarts after a week pause as the Hobson addition sewer extension project resumes Monday following settlement between the Workers Alliance of America and the WPA office in Great Falls. District director B F Steinmetz ordered the return, affecting 1909 workers in the district after a sit down demonstration ended late Friday. Earlier, alliance leaders had conferred with Steinmetz and other WPA officials and with I M Brandford of the Montana welfare commission in Helena.

Referendum Petitions Circulated On Liquor Measure in County

Fairfield Wins in Flag Contest
The annual flag contest sponsored by the American Legion auxiliary and the state education department was held Friday at the Chateau High School. Doris Price and Clayton Ammondson of Fairfield were selected to represent Teton County at the regional contest in Great Falls on April 2. Ammondson scored 932-3 in 7th and 8th grade, Price scored 931-3 in the same division. County champs were named in 5th and 6th grades for both boys and girls, though they do not enter the regional contest. Christie Alice Swanson led girls and Jack Radcliffe led boys in 5th-6th grades.

G Torgerson, 82, former Chateau resident and tailor, minister, and homesteader, died at Pendroy after a year of bedrest. Born in 1854 in Modom Norway, he worked as a master cutter in New York and Chicago before ministry, farming, and operating tailor shops in multiple towns. He and wife Mary Nielsen celebrated a golden wedding in Chateau and are survived by his wife, three daughters, a son, a sister, and two other sons, with funeral held at the local Methodist church.
