A fierce Tuesday blizzard halted Highway 89 from Dupuyer to the Canadian line and left roads snowbound. Schools in Power Fort Shaw Brady and Browning closed. Vern Peterson and others faced hours of drifted travel as forecasts counted three inches of snow with .07 inches precipitation Tuesday night and two inches plus .09 inches the following day.

William Jackson Earles 69 longtime Pendroy farmer and former Teton County commissioner died Saturday March 19 at Teton Memorial hospital. Born October 24 1885 in Meadowview Virginia he served on the county board 1937 1938 and ran for office in 1938 but lost. Funeral was held at First Methodist Church with burial in Chateau cemetery.

Cha teau Lions club Tuesday night canceled the planned program due to near blizzard conditions and impassable highways. Ed gar Albert gave a recorded address from the June 1953 district convention, while Al Erickson could not attend. Babe Russell announced a Great Falls drama group appearance on Sunday April 3 to benefit recreation facilities for Chateau and the county. Proceeds support city park improvements.

Preliminary Road Meeting Held Monday
