Valley View Ranch owner Nick Vlinker earned grand championship with Silver Casper 59 at the Montana Winter Fair in Bozeman, with Judge Harry Parker of San Luis Obispo officiating. Silver Casper 60 won a similar top prize at the 36th Annual North Montana Hereford Breeders show in Great Falls. Grand champion Silver Casper 59 was not sold at Bozeman. Mt Hoggin Livestock Co paid a record $351 for a bred ewe. Montana Hereford Association elected Thomas H Herrin as president and Walter Higgins as vice president. Elmer T Johnson re-elected secretary.

More than 200 people watched Company F of the Montana National Guard stage a weapons demo three miles south of Chateau on the Augusta highway. Lt. Dale Dart led the event with a display including a 50 caliber tank gun and several other small arms. Notables featured were Wesley Higgins, a Chateau high school senior who enrolled March 14, and Joe Rose, returning from a transfer from Bozeman.

Funeral services for Harry G. Young former Chateau resident and property owner were held at George Co. Chapel Great Falls with Rev George Hulac. Interment was in Highland Cemetery. Survived by widow sister Mrs Adolph Segall and brother Charles Young all of Great Falls. Born March 7 1889 to James D and unnamed mother the family came from Helena by stage coach before the Montana Central railway era.

William I. Anderson age 52, brother of Mrs. S A Pithoud of this city, died in Joliet Montana on Saturday March 10 from a heart attack. He had visited his sister here in 1948. Funeral services were held March 14 in Joliet with burial in Joliet cemetery. Survivors include his mother Mary B Anderson and brother David B, a son Dale, sister Mrs. Pithoud, and nephew Gene Starlin Jackson Wyoming. Dale Anderson may join the Pitheads in Joliet.
