REA Lines for Phone Service Considered Practical

Art Wells of the Sun River Electric Cooperative says after war research with Bell Telephone has shown telephone use over REA power lines is possible and practical. He notes further research to remove bugs, potential funding from self liquidating projects, and that the cooperative serves about 1200 members across several counties while paying taxes.

PVT ED DOMBROSKI DIES OF IWO JIMA WOUNDS

Choteau mourns Pvt. Edward Dombroski a former CCC worker and Choteau resident who died from wounds sustained in the Iwo Jima battle. He was married to Marion King and was the son in law of Mr and Mrs Marshall King. He joined the Marines last June and had been overseas since November. He leaves a three year old son Johnny and wife Mrs Dombroski now in Great Falls.

Smile That Won't Come Off Charms Red Cross Chairman

C W Bobbie Burns county chairman for the Red Cross War emergency drive wore the smile that wouldn't come off after two more favorable reports. Greenfield submitted 793 dollars and Dutton Sollid reported about two thousand dollars raised so far. Subscriptions continue as the drive ends March 31.

KFBB informed Mrs. Arnold C. Hausa that the broadcast from transcription of the can tata will air 10 30 to 11 p m Saturday March 31 instead of 7 30 to 8 p m as previously announced.

G Banks and Miland Bullerdick report the death of Alfred Klay at Fort Benton He was a World War I veteran with long service for Teton Land Co He is believed a Teton county resident and entitled to $150 veterans burial aid Burial occurred at Fort Benton Cemetery by Cloyd Funeral Service.

Big Annual Ice Show to Be Held in Falls

The Great Falls Figure Skating club announces its annual ice show on April 6 7 and 8, three nights this year. Producer Douglas Duffy oversees production with comedy and top Montana and Pacific coast skaters. A cast of over 250 performs with a 12 piece orchestra and lavish sets.

Funeral Services Held in Choteau for Mrs Edwin Powers

Last Saturday in Choteau, funeral services for Mrs. Edwin C Powers wife of ranchman Ed Powers were conducted by Rev Bert A Powell. Banks Funeral home managed arrangements. The 66 year old native of Ontario Canada had lived in Teton county about 25 years and died Monday at Tim Cook home in the Bynum area.

Joan Greene Leaves for Overseas Red Cross Duty

Choteau residents note Joan Greene a former Pepper-Cola Center desk volunteer and Coast Guard port security member has left San Francisco for Washington DC to train for overseas Red Cross service. Daughter of Judge John H. Greene of Cut Bank Montana, she came to San Francisco in 1939 to head the Montana exhibit at Treasure Island and later worked for the State Chamber of Commerce as noted in the March clipping. Her brother Frank T. Greene served in the Army Air Corps and was the first Allied flyer shot down after Sicily.

Prominent Economist to Speak in Choteau on Inflation Debate

Donald J. Erskine of the OPA will speak at 8 p.m. Tuesday March 27 in the court room of the Choteau courthouse on Must We Choose Between Inflation and Deflation. He will also address the Lions Club and is noted as Stanford trained economist and former radio commentator.

Red Cross Room Opens at Court House Friday Afternoons

Officials of the Teton County Chapter announce a Red Cross room prepared at the courthouse and to be open Friday afternoons. The move followed Malone Pharmacy’s relocation to the former Red Cross room in the Larson building. Anyone wishing to sew or work on Red Cross projects may call for materials and instructions on Friday afternoons.
