New store owners Mr and Mrs Jim Arensmeyer launch a grand opening from Thursday March 18 through Saturday March 27 in Choteau. Specials and door prize registrations highlight the event with free coffee and doughnuts on Friday and Saturday March 19 and 20.

Choteau FFA Wins Glacier District Sweepstakes

The Choteau Chapter FFA won the Glacier District Sweepstakes banner at the district conference in Fairfield on March 13. Team events included farm mechanics first place and grains judging first, with individual high scores by Bob Hodgskiss in grain and strong showings in soils, livestock, and general agriculture. Several members, including Ron Neckstad and Clark Corey, placed in various events and Choteau to attend the State Leadership Conference in Bozeman on April 2-3.

Style Show Plans Nearing Completion

Plans are finalized for the annual Soroptimist Style Show to be held Friday March 26 at 8 p m in the Choteau High School auditorium. Clothing and jewelry from The Corral H T Variety Store Ellen's Isakson's and Choteau Drug will be modeled. The theme is Fashion Fiesta with entertainment and door prizes. Advance tickets are available from any Soroptimist Club member.

Jaycees to Hold Election of Officers

The Chateau Jaycee Chapter will hold an officer election dinner meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in their meeting room. Dale Dreyer, president, says dinner is served first then a business meeting and officer elections. Members are urged to attend and bring a guest or potential new member.

Teen Center Meet Planned for Tonight in Chateau

A meeting for adults and teenagers to plan a Chateau Teen Center is set for Thursday March 18 at 8 p.m. in the courthouse drivers license examination room. Organizers have secured a building for use as the center and attendance is urged to gauge interest and avoid dropping the project.

Library Opens in New Quarters at Chateau

After months of delay the Chateau Public Library moves to permanent quarters and serves the public in a new spacious facility. The Library Board apologizes for the postponement and invites all residents to use the expanded services during National Library Week in April.

Saline Workshop Scheduled at Dutton

The Teton County Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor a saline seep workshop in the Lions Club hall in Dutton on Monday March 22 at 1 p.m. Authorities will present on causes and cures of wet saline spots in dryland areas and all area farmers are urged to attend.

Lions Club Ladies Night Dinner Planned at The Chateau

Lions Club President Les Otness announces a ladies night dinner next Tuesday March 23 at The Chateau. Dinner starts 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Lions District 370 Governor Robert Roush of Havre, a retired county extension agent active in Hill County fairs. Stan Rathman will emcee the program with several awards to be presented.

A four county regional conference of Democrat Women is set for Tuesday March 30 at the Fairfield Community hall. Registration begins at 9 30 a m and lunch will be served at noon.

Seven vie for two Chateau School Board seats

Seven candidates filed nominating petitions for two three year terms on Chateau School District No. 1 board. Incumbents Mrs. Bert Guthrie and Dr. Bill Patton did not run again. Election set for April 3 from noon to 8 pm in Chateau grade school cafeteria and district outlying schools.

Hospital Dinner Honors Teton Memorial Staff

About 70 people attended a dinner at Chateau United Methodist Church honoring Teton Memorial Hospital workers. Retiring cook Mrs Vivian Randall received a special tribute after 18 years. Five other staff members earned service pins including 15 year pins for Mrs Howard Koch Mrs Elmer Dial and Margaret Olson and five year pins for Mrs Clifford Blixrud and Mrs S J Bachmeier. Entertainment came from Fairfield boys with Mrs Ward Genger.

Skyline Retirement Center relocates to new site two blocks north

Sky line Lodge board approves a new six acre Ted Perry property site two blocks north of the high school after groundwater issues at the Country Club Addition. Tests indicate suitable subsoil and construction is planned to begin in June with a park like landscape plan and early clearing for roads and open areas.

Hospital Benefit Food Sale Set For Tomorrow

A hospital benefit food sale is planned for Friday March 19 at the Masonic hall in Chateau from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Coffee pie cake and cookies will be sold for 35 cents. Civic Social Club sponsors invite Chateau area women to donate baked goods. cash donations to the hospital are accepted. City Council Allows Longer Summer Watering Hours

The City Council approved extending irrigation hours to 7 am to noon and 5 pm to 10 pm this summer due to a new city well. The change adds three hours daily to lawn and garden watering.
