Mrs. L. G. Baldwin of a Fairfield area farm in Teton county reports a $500 profit from 182 Mammoth Bronze turkeys. She bought a trio for $45, spent $125 on feed and $30 on incidentals, then sold the flock for $700. For 1924 she bought another trio for $75.

Logan to Leave for Coast in Search of Business Location
W E Logan plans to depart next week for California and other coast points to seek a new business location. A longtime Logan & Howard Cash Store partner, he came to Chateau in 1906 from Great Falls to work for Jos Hirshberg & Co as a dry goods salesman before starting his own enterprise. He serves on the school board and city council and his departure will be a notable loss to the community. Logan will ship his car to Spokane by rail and complete the trip by auto. Mrs Logan and the children will follow once a permanent location is secured.

Montana and Idaho gain funds for forest roads from Section 8 Act
Montana will receive 364,889 and Idaho 114,764 under the 1916 Federal Aid Road Act. The act provides 10 million dollars total with 1 million per year for ten years and allocates money by national forest area and resource value. Montana’s total to date reaches 988,114 as distribution continues to Alaska and Puerto Rico.

Peters Arrested Over Moonshine Sale In Great Falls
State Enforcement Officer Eugene Van Wert arrested H C Peters of Great Falls on charges of illegal liquor sale and seized the business stock and fixtures. Peters’ attorney Geo W Magee filed a petition in district court seeking return of a moonshine bottle claimed to have been sold to Grover Forgey and a hearing on the seizure. Judge Greene set March 8 for the petition hearing.

Emergency hay rate goes into effect March 12
The Interstate Commerce Commission granted an emergency hay shipping rate this week for the Chateau Sun River and Conrad districts. The rate is 4634c per hundred to Duluth St Paul and intermediate points making the ton rate 9.30. A large surplus hay exists due to the open winter.
