City Plans Ditch Construction and Water Project
At the city council meeting Mayor James Hamilton said state officials announced a ditch rebuild through Henry Jensen property and a dike on Richem property to divert flood water to the river. The project aims to finish by October 1 and FHA funds for a water well near the ball diamonds were applied for.

Blood Drive Nets 74 Pints in Friday Event
Eighty four people attended the blood drawing last Friday. after ten rejections, 74 pints were collected, just shy of the 75 pint quota. Donors reaching gallon milestones included D O Moulton at seven gallons, with Ann Chane Herb Corey Cecelia Shephard and others hitting multiple gallons. First time donors were listed from Chateau New Rockport Colony and nearby towns. 8 pints of rare AB positive were slated for heart surgery along with 6 positive types. Special thanks were given to New Rockport Colony for contributing 16 pints.

Big Fourth of July Celebration Planned in Choteau
Choteau will host the annual July 4 festivities with a July 3 jackpot roping and dancing, a 11 a.m. parade, 2 p.m. rodeo, family picnics, and a 10 30 p m fireworks show. Parade chairmen Gary Durocher and Tom Dunlap report slow but sufficient float entries. Prize divisions include non commercial novelty costume pet and hobby and other categories with specified cash prizes. Children will march near Taylor Motors and participate in a parade entry, while organizations and businesses are urged to enter floats to boost the event.

Local Men Sentenced on Burglary Charges in Choteau Court
District Judge McPhillips sentenced Charles McFarlane and Leonard Dormady in Choteau to multi year terms after pleas on burglary and related charges. McFarlane received 15 years for aggravated burglary and 10 years for two counts, with 10 suspended on the second. Dormady was given a 3 year deferred sentence, five days in jail, and restitution.

Chateau Pool Announces Summer Lesson Program
The Chateau swimming pool will offer six week lessons starting Tuesday July 5 for Fish Porpoise Pre-competitive Flying Fish and Shark with additional classes July 6 Mother Tot Novice and Advanced Beginners.
