Chateau District Board Cuts High School Budget by One Mill
Chateau District School Board reduced the annual high school budget by one mill at the budget meeting Monday night. The final budget for Chateau High School for July 1, 1969 to June 30, 1970 totals $177,765.20, with the elementary budget at $217,765.20. Both include administration salaries supplies books and various operating costs.

Saylor In Malmstrom Hospital Following Fatal Crash In Helena
Tim Saylor 21 of Chateau is in satisfactory condition at Malmstrom AFB Hospital after a 3 am Helena crash that killed Collette Irene Olson 18 of Wallace Idaho and injured two other passengers. Driver Warren Fisher 22 and Mary Ann McKenna 19 survived. Olson died at the scene.

Ray Kelly will retire July 1 after 23 years as Teton County Extension Agent. He built an all around program emphasizing crop improvement, weed control, and new farming methods, introducing chemical control of wild oats and nitrogen top dressing for winter wheat. He supported malting barley and seed production, led 4-H growth, and partnered with the Soil and Water Conservation District.

Three Smashups Occur in Area Sunday
Three vehicle mishaps occurred in the area on Sunday June 22 and Monday June 23. Arlee Van Johnson narrowly escaped a two car collision near Vaughn Junction with Mrs Marian Curtis driving in front of him. Forrest Lee Johnson suffered only minor damage to his car. Clyde Oberman of Augusta drove into a ditch after dozing off near Augusta and was treated and released. A tourist from Los Angeles McDermont Ford caused a collision with Herbert Foster at a stop light in Chateau with both cars damaged and no injuries and no citations.
