Shell squad holds top spot as two games last week were rained out and not played. V F W beat Schroeder Dellno 21 20 after leading all game until the last. Schroeder Dellno edged Petty 6 5 in seven with Dean Swenson and Amos McComb driving the winning run. Edmison pitched well for Petty. V F W also defeated Schroeder Dellno Monday.

The Chateau rodeo July 3 and 4 will award over $1000 in prize money plus entry fees. Horace Raty says seven events offer cash, with five events charging entry. Daily mount money of $200 and various event prizes are listed, with several fees and free events for girls and the mad scramble. Farmers in Teton County decide on marketing quotas for the 1956 wheat crop this Saturday June 25. Polls open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at listed sites. If quotas pass, national price support defaults to 1.81 nor parity penalties 45 percent. if rejected, support 1.19 with no excess penalties. Acreage allotments apply in either case. Rainbow trout and sockeye salmon planted in area
About 3,000 rainbow trout and 50,000 sockeye salmon were planted this week in the Chateau area. The distribution included 1,000 rainbow in Spring Creek on Tuesday, 1,000 rainbow in the Teton River on Tuesday, 50,000 sockeye salmon in Bynum Reservoir on Tuesday, and 1,000 rainbow in the Teton River on Wednesday. Bob Maloney and others assisted with planting. Frank Gordon directed the Teton River effort. Giant Springs hatchery staff accompanied the operation.

The Montana Taxpayers Association reports 1954 55 property taxes reach 61 7 million while 1955 56 levies loom. School districts must hold their first public hearings June 27 with 8 00 pm at Chateau High School for District No 1. Taxpayers may attend to approve or oppose proposed expenditures.

Barbecue Feeds 500 At City Park In Farmington
The Farmington unit of the Farm Bureau served over 500 people at a Bar-B-Que in Chateau City Park. Tourists from out of state, including two Texans, praised the meal of beef and sauce beans cake kool aid ice cream and coffee. Proceeds support the Farmington hall and organizers expect the event to become an annual affair.

Former Native of Dupuyer Dies in Crash
John A. Salois 23, formerly of Dupuyer, died Tuesday night when his car skidded into a barrow pit near Deer Lodge and rolled over. Richard Moore, 23, was seriously injured and hospitalized at St. Joseph hospital. Coroner E J Beck said they were en route from Anaconda to Deer Lodge, near the accident site two and a half miles south of Deer Lodge. Salois recently worked for Montana Phosphate Products Co. in Garrison after leaving the Air Force in April. His death raised Montana 1955 traffic toll to 91 compared with 74 a year earlier.

Julie Lucier 84 dies after long illness in Missoula
Mrs. Julie Lucier aged 84 died June 10 in a Missoula hospital after nearly three years of illness. She leaves five children including Joe Lucier of this city and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 13 in Missoula with burial at Frenchtown Cemetery beside her husband.

Magazine Tour Group to Visit Choteau in July
The Western Livestock magazine tour group will visit Choteau on July 18. Milton Mc Nea announced the number of visitors will be set the morning of arrival and the chamber will feed the group at noon in Chateau. The meeting covered ticket sales, parade and dance committees, and a screening committee for out-of-town solicitors.
