At the annual meeting held in the county courthouse about 25 attended. Officers named for the year include President Algon Udin Vice President Weston Howard Augusta Secretary Treasurer W F Fellows and Directors Ernest Arensmeyer H N Wuest Yelt Bakker. C K Malone and Oscar Swenson represented the Federal Land Bank of Spokane. Reports talks and plans for the year were presented.
Sunshine returns as June rainfall reaches 1.65 inches in Choteau with countywide estimates near that amount. Farmers cheer the rain boosting crop prospects and hope for continued sun over the next weeks. Temperatures ranged from the mid thirties to mid fifties with scattered readings throughout the period.
Miss Noreen Harrington daughter of Mrs. Harry J. Ferguson of Chateau married H Kleis Larson of Missoula in a June 18 ceremony at the Polson Lutheran church. The Rev Ede officiated with Mildred Spaberg singing. After a wedding dinner for 14 at the Spabergs home the couple will reside in Missoula.
Fishermen and visitors to Glacier National Park’s Kintla Lake can rent boats this summer. The Glacier Park Boat Company will provide two rowboats with an attendant, using safe boats from a park-wide operator. Dolly Varden trout are plentiful now, with Black Spotted trout expected later. The remote lake lies at the park’s extreme northwest, reachable via Polebridge or Belton entrances.
The Choteau Cub Pack will meet at the Legion Pavilion at 7 p.m. next Wednesday June 28 1939. Cubs with den chiefs and parents are urged to attend for an outdoor gathering as the last formal meeting until fall is planned. Geo A Carroll chairman American Legion Cub Committee.
The Teton county planning committee met in the courthouse to review a unified county agricultural program led by Chairman W. D. Reiquam. Committees were formed to study land use, farm size, weed and insect control, water use, erosion, tenure, and social factors, with reports due before the next harvest.
Senator James E. Murray invites President Roosevelt to Montana for an All Montana Day in Livingston on July 2 during Park County Capital's rodeo. He also suggests a route through Butte Billings Bozeman and Missoula on the presidential tour.
