4 H Leaders Plan Weekend Retreat at Baker Ranch
Four H leaders of Teton County plan a weekend retreat at Baker Ranch in Teton Canyon. The program includes a picnic on Saturday, an evening of fellowship, Sunday morning fishing, and a ceremonial before lunch. A discussion on postwar plans will occupy the afternoon.

Prominent Pendroy man weds Valier girl in Pendroy
Miss Elizebeth Rae McGahan of Valier and Robert D. McDonald of Pendroy wed in Pendroy May 27 at 1. The ceremony was in the Methodist church with Rev. Bert A. Powell officiating. Attendants were Charles McDonald and his wife. The couple planned a reception for 35 and will live on a farm west of Pendroy.

Parity Wheat Loan Plan Set at About 1 38 a Bushel
Montana farmers will see a 1945 parity loan rate around 1.38 a bushel with adjustments if parity rises. Loans issued through county AAA committees cover farm stored wheat on note and chattel mortgage terms, with terminal rates and storage payments outlined for 1945 crops and loans due by April 30 1946.

Mrs. Dale Installed as New President of Local Legion Auxiliary
The Chateau Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary met at the M E church annex Monday June 11. Mrs. Dale was installed as president with officers including 1st VP Mrs Stewart Meyers 2nd VP Mrs Chris Swenson and secretary treasurer Miss Lillian Urban. Two new members were initiated. The unit, rated Superior with 137 points, sent delegates Mrs George Gunther and Mrs George A Carroll to Great Falls for the Three Rivers district convention and voted to donate five dollars to the Department President's project and purchase a one hundred dollar war bond.

Board awards contracts at mid year session
The Teton county board of commissioners met last week and awarded key contracts. Dr. H. W. Bateman was reappointed county physician and health officer and received the hospitalization contract for county charges. Dr. L. S. Crary was reappointed deputy county physician. Mrs. Gladys Nelson again won the contract to operate the county poor farm. The bid for a new Caterpillar tractor and bulldozer was awarded to Connelly Machinery Co. Two 30 Caterpillar tractors were sold to Willard Paulus, the high bidder.

Joe H. Ramaker, new proprietor of Walton Creek sawmill on the North Fork of the Teton, reports rapid setup for good lumber production despite heavy spring snows. A gasoline power plant will drive saws and a 110 volt lighting system. New mill units and a worker cabin are planned, with telephone links to Forest Service lines serving the Teton area.

Stokes Couple Visit Choteau Area in Montana
Mr and Mrs T P Stokes visit Choteau area readers. Former Valier residents now in Teton county after purchasing the J E Sullivan ranch in Dry Forks west of Pentrow. Stokes started as a ranch hand for Black Seven outfit in 1909 and rose to leading stockman in the district. He subscribed to The Acantha.

June 30 Deadline for 1945 AAA Payment Applications
Roy F. Morgan AAA Chairman warns Teton County farmers that June 30 1945 is the deadline to file 1944 conservation payment applications. Nearly all 1944 applications have been submitted and paid with 888 filings totaling 268420 dollars. The payments come from a 300 million dollar appropriation to promote soil and water conservation methods, administered locally by farmer elected committees.

Daley, a World War I veteran and former Los Angeles Times accountant, has served since 1930 and is active in American Legion and local civic groups. A. H. Doughty will succeed him as Chateau’s county official.
