No Bidders At Public Auction For Teton County High School
No bids were received at last Friday’s courthouse auction for the Teton County high school and dormitory. Official appraisers set the sale price at 48 000, but the county will lease to Choteau School District 1 for the next school year. Future purchase requires voter approval and funds. reassessment may occur after one year.

Cottages To Go Up on North Triangle
Eleven cabins and a four room manager’s dwelling will rise this summer on the triangle near the city water works. Guy Miller and Bill Jay build the north side at an estimated 35 000 dollars. Duke Blakely starts framing with readiness by Sept 1 and each cabin will have heating kitchenette and Murphy beds for winter use. Chateau residents may rent the cottages in winter.

Frame Motel Erection Planned by Al Hensley at Choteau
Al Hensley, Choteau bakery owner, received a June city permit to build a frame motel on Sherburne addition lots 22 to 28. The six three room cottages will form an L shaped complex 100 by 72 feet, with 20 feet width, to be used as 12 tourist cabins in summer and monthly rentals in late fall and winter. Hensley plans to move barracks from Gore Field, Great Falls, pending government permit.

Walter Henneford announces the formal opening of Henneford's 5-10 and 25c store in a new 85 by 92 foot brick and tile building beside the Roxy theater. The Choteau business will stock electrical goods, appliances, plumbing fixtures, soft goods and groceries with a soda fountain offering ice cream and confections. The building, built by Ole Lestrud, sits on main street with storage in a full basement. The Henneford family, long-time Fairfield residents, will reside in the back of the store with their two sons Eugene and Jack.

Roy Rabbit prepares to open a one story brick and tile honey extracting plant on the south side of Chateau near the county shop. The 48 by 96 foot building will house a four room apartment and rooms for packing, tempering, extracting, storage, and a machine shop where bee capping machines will be built. Rabbit operates about 2 500 bee colonies and sources bees from Walier Cut Bank and Choteau with shipments from Oregon California and Louisiana to counter winter losses. He began beekeeping in Caldwell Idaho 35 years ago and moved here in 1944.

Delay Expected For City Improvements In Chateau
City officials say no action on new city improvements will occur before next year due to material and labor shortages. Bonded projects include a septic tank near Tom Hammond place, a storage tank on East hill, 10 inch cast iron mains replacement, and a new water source on the north side. Steel bottlenecks and out of state delivery dates prevent contracts, as skilled labor remains scarce.
Handicap Tourney Planned for Choteau Golf Club
Men of the Choteau Golf Club will compete in a handicap tournament at Choteau to compute handicaps said Dr J A March handicap tournament chair. Sixteen members will play 18 holes on June 22 with a later club tournament to determine a club champion.
