Fire broke out in the Jim Vedas building at Power about seven o'clock Saturday evening and completely destroyed the structure and contents. Beekeeper Ervin Olmstad sustained a heavy loss, running perhaps to $600, as much of his bee equipment stored inside burned. The building, formerly a restaurant and pool hall, had been vacant except for storage recently.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at Mrs. Elmer Smiths with several members hosting. Members donating cards are asked to bring them to the meeting.
At the city council meeting the main item was a petition by Chateau citizens asking to provide a recreation hall for youths under 21. The effort was led by June Knotts and Lola Mae Burns who met with the mayor to discuss access and administration.
Mary Lynne Olsen three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Olsen of Chateau is in Deaconess hospital Great Falls after a rear car door opened while traveling near the golf course. She suffered scalp wounds and a slight concussion but regained consciousness and rests with doctors hopeful for a quick recovery. The incident occurred Tuesday evening as the Edwards family carted Mary Elizabeth and Laura Ann to the Edwards ranch.
