Empress of Ireland Sinks After Collision on St Lawrence

The Empress of Ireland sank within minutes after a collision with the Danish collier Storstad in the St Lawrence river. Over 900 passengers and crew were aboard. about 483 were saved and the death toll rose to around 934. Captain Kendall kept order on the bridge as the liner went down and helped direct rescue efforts before perishing. Others were rescued by the Storstad, Eureka, and Lady Evelyn, with many unaccounted and bodies recovered later.

Sewers Approved as Chateau Council Advances District Plan
