First Grade Teacher Hired for Choteau
Hazel Castle of Sweet Grass has been hired as a first grade instructor for Choteau schools. The widow with four children currently teaches at a summer school near Sweet Grass. Superintendent Graham says housing is needed for Mrs Castle and for both male and female teachers, with boarding places for high school students also sought. Call the superintendent’s office if you have housing leads.

North Fork Teton canyon road nears opening for timber sale
The U S Forest Service says 9.3 miles of a new North Fork Teton canyon road will soon open for car travel and allow access to vast timber stands in Teton county. About 1 000 000 board feet of lumber will be reached via this route, which begins at the Jack Baker ranch 28 miles west of Chateau and runs to the West Fork Ranger station.

Road to Walden Creek Timber Stand Access
The proposed road climbs from Walden Creek to the North Fork of the Teton and ends at the West Fork Ranger station. It winds upward to height then descends to the ranger station terminus. Arrangements Made for Flower Show at Legion Club
Preparation for the annual Woman's club Flower Show and Tea at Chateau is underway with the event set for Saturday August 16 at Legion club rooms. The show features over 30 classifications, one entry per class, and blue red and white ribbons instead of prizes. Judging will stress even stem length and blossom size. Freeman Dies in Ventura at 86 After Long Westward Journey
Frank G. Freeman 86, long resident of Ventura California, died July 13. Born February 21 1861 in Dover Illinois he moved with his family to Missouri, Washington and Idaho before settling in Ventura in 1924. Survived by a brother and sister in addition to six children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Baby beef raised by Hugh Maxwell won first in the 4 H club and FFA show at Fairfield last Saturday. Russell Kolste and Bobby Reiquam placed second and third in the beef sale which had slow bidding in the morning. The day also featured an amateur rodeo a morning parade and an evening dance. Seven Teton 4 H-11 cattle raisers marketed 6751.1 pounds of shrunk beef for a net 82078. True weighted average per pound was 29. ic Dick Fagen aided in a showmanship contest alongside the sale. Prices paid per pound varied by grade with buyers listed for each lot.

The Dutton family of Dutton Montana is believed to be the longest returning visitors to Glacier National Park. Since 1917 the Rempels have camped at Fish Creek campground, tracing summer trips from a Model T Ford era to today. Carl and Evan Rempel continue annual visits while Evan attends Perkins Institute and plans Montana bound study. Joe Swegel and W W Force families join each summer, forming a notable veteran gathering at Fish Creek since 1932 and 1936 respectively.

John Nordhagen of the Chotea Flying Service returned Sunday from Woran after two months crop dusting in the Flathead and Bitter Root valleys. Work contracted through Associated Seed Growers Red Lodge Cannery and Western Montana Co-op Growers Association. About 2 400 acres of peas beets potatoes wheat and alfalfa dusted with an estimated 40 percent increase.
