Levy for City Budget Seeks 50.5 Mills in 1954-55
The city council and Mayor Ted Halvorson present a preliminary budget calling for a 50.5 mill levy generating about 46 815 50. The largest 21 mills fund the sinking fund with about 19 467, while the general fund gets 17 5 mills for roughly 16 222 50. One hundred seventy five 4-H members and friends attended the Teton County Exhibit day. Judging covered home economics and agriculture with many high quality displays. Demonstrations featured several youths and Olive Maxwell. Dress revue saw forty three girls, with 23 blue ribbons and 18 red ribbons. Thirty five 4-H members advance to the North Montana State Fair in Great Falls. Gilles Herriet from France gave a talk and will visit local ranches before traveling to Blaine Carbon counties, Ohio, and back to France in January.

Lights for Choteau residents sparks Lions club debate

Annual Priest Butte Lake boat races draw big turnout
The Teton Boat and Anglers club hosted the first annual boat races at Priest Butte lake last Sunday afternoon under ideal conditions. Sixteen entrants competed across classes A through D with Dave Shannon winning multiple places. Prizes were awarded on a point system used by the National Boat Racing Association. Three Choteau teens injured in highway crash
A 1937 Chevrolet driven by Bobby Jacobson 15 crashed one and a half miles south of Choteau on the J W George road to Highway 89. Passengers Richard Mauseth 16 and Ronald Barges 15 suffered injuries. All youths lacked valid licenses. Jacobson had a learner permit invalidated. Police noted excessive speed and reckless driving. The car ended end over end after leaving the highway and skidding gravel. The youths were turned over to juvenile authorities.
