Grain Bins Now Available For Shipment Here
Prefabricated grain bins in two capacities 2810 and 3000 bushels are offered in Teton county. Farmers eligible for the 1942 wheat loan may buy these bins via the county triple-A committee with cash or on note and chattel mortgage. Orders should be placed immediately to secure bins. Storage needs for three million bushels of wheat loom, plus feed and war crop storage. The county urges rapid action and continued construction using every available building.

August Kropp 85 Old-Timer Dies At Helena
August Kropp 85 prominent rancher near Choteau died Sunday at the East Helena home of his niece Mrs John Gough. Funeral Thursday at 2 p m at W H George chapel with Rev E A Huber officiating entombment in the mausoleum. Born April 23 1857 in Hanover Germany he came to Montana in 1881 and built a cattle ranch west of Chateau. He retired about 15 years ago and moved to Great Falls. Survivors include four children Henry F Paul A and Walter H a daughter Mrs N A Ladner and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Rites Held Tuesday For William Miller Old-Time Rancher
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in Chateau for William Fred Miller 75 respected local rancher who died Saturday night July 4 at Maynard hospital after a brief illness. Rev R F Vick led the service and burial followed in Choteau cemetery. Pallbearers were W E Howard Bert Packer Joe Fallon Hampton Bloom Clarence Looney and Clark Coffey. Miller longtime Choteau resident had recent health decline after an Eddie's Toggery attack. Born Rockport Indiana June 29 1867 he came to Chateau in 1889 after earlier living in Cascelle. Surviving are sisters Annie Kramer Christ ney Ind and Mary Miller Rockport and brother Henry Rockport.

Fourth of July Fair Draws Crowd in Chateau

Summer Heat Reaches 91 Degrees on July 4
The first hot spell of the season produced a high of 91 degrees on July 4 after a cooler June. Temperatures stayed in the 80s and 90s through July 7 before thunderstorms Tuesday evening and a cooler Wednesday offered brief relief.

Maurice Johnson First Draft Fatality for Teton County
Maurice W. Johnson, 30, of Agawam, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Johnson, is identified as Teton county’s first selective service fatality. A war department wire says he died in the Far East on July 5, likely from a throat infection. Born August 31, 1911, in Seattle, he studied at Montana State College and Washington Technical Institute and was active in Chateau community life. He belonged to Chateau Lodge No. 44 AF and AM and Teton Chapter 25, RAM, and was among the first draftees from the county. His family and friends extend condolences.
