The Chateau Methodist Episcopal pastor Rev Edwin Dover led an outdoor service at Logn Pass Glacier Park on Sunday July 4 at 11 am with ideal weather. Harley Campbell and Mrs Parker of Great Falls provided music while John Robison and an amplifier aided the ceremony. Dover spoke on God’s infinity amid mountains and time, noting His power and mercy beyond human measure. (Continued on page 4)

Relief Looms for Taxpayers in Chateau City
City council reduced the 1937 tax levy by 11 mills to 21 from 32, with seven general, nine street, two park, two cemetery, and one band mill allocations. Park and cemetery totals rise by three mills while water and street sinking are cut entirely. The levy will be submitted to the county for approval next month. Also approved a house move permit for Franklin Fellers and denied Andy Hyatt’s log house plan. Hazel Depner, daughter of Mr and Mrs Gus Depner, was struck from the rear by a car on Main avenue Tuesday evening. She suffered a broken nose, facial cuts, loose teeth, and other injuries. the car’s owner or plate was not learned and the driver stopped briefly before leaving. Sheriff Billings is investigating.

4-H Judging School Aims for county elimination
4 H agriculture club members and leaders will attend a judging school on Saturday July 17 guided by County Agents Claude Windecker and Fred Willson. The group meets at the courthouse at 9 am then tours area farms to judge dairy cattle beef cattle hogs sheep vegetables and poultry.

County Commissioner N W Edwards attended the State Association of County Commissioners conference in Red Lodge June 21 22 and 23 as a member of the resolutions committee of 11. The committee drafted 18 resolutions that were all adopted addressing federal state and county government concerns. Fourth of July Celebration at Chateau Draws Large Crowd
A three day Fourth of July festival in Chateau drew several thousand attendees despite heat and dust. Lions club organizers led by E. E. Sturgis and mayor C. W. Burns oversaw parades rodeo and prize drawings with many volunteers and participating towns.
