Leopold Bathurst, excavating in Mexico near the Pyramids of the Sun, reports discoveries in the Street of the Dead area including rooms of an ancient temple, a large subterranean apartment, and a massive stairway. He unearthed a Toltec king’s skeleton beside a tiger skeleton, both painted red, with sea shells, obsidian beads, jade and idols, knives, snakes, masks, and polished stones dating back 3,000 years.
