Loan Interest Rate Increase for 1973 Crop Loans
The rate on 1973 crop price support loans rises to 5.5 percent per year, calculated daily. Roy Killenbeck, Scobey, chair of the Montana Stabilization committee, says the higher rate reflects borrowing costs of the CCC. Loans aid interim financing during harvest gluts while keeping ownership with producers. Eligible crops include wheat, barley, rye, flaxseed, dry beans, corn and honey with the new rate effective for 1973 crops.
