Helena January 15 Joseph M Dixon was elected United States senator for Montana by the legislature. Vote totals show Dixon receiving 70 of 96 ballots with 52 in the house and 18 in the senate. The Democratic vote favored Toole and Frank, while Dixon was lauded by supporters and noted with his children present.
