Treasurer's Report on County Finances for 1900

County treasurer A C Burbank reports 158 357 50 on hand at December 31 1900. Funds listed include State General and State Staking subaccounts along with General Contingent Road Bridge and Poor funds. Also noted are District and High School school funds and various tax deposits and district clerk and public administrator deposits with road awards and sinking funds totaling the balance.

Adams and Lane families visit Augusta during holidays

Elizabeth News reports J R Adams and family visiting Augusta to stay with Mrs Adams' parents. The Lanes and Mrs Lane's sister and husband visited Mr and Mrs Godin on Sunday. C A LaBreche visited for the mail run and declined Forest Service invitation to attend Missoula school this winter. Weather is unusually fine except for wind, contrasting with last year’s conditions.

Conrad and Engineer Preview Route for Chateau to Conrad Railroad

W G Conrad and engineer Mr Sacke ett with contractor C H Drake and others visited from Conrad toward Great Falls to survey a potential railroad between Chateau and Conrad. Conrad predicted early work and payoff within a year, saying the project would proceed regardless of other lines and could reuse the same train force as the Waher line. He noted rapid regional development and plans to return in ten days with his engineer to advance the survey.

Preliminary Debate Draws Notable Interest at Teton County High

Friday evening’s inaugural interscholastic debate at the Teton County high school auditorium featured two literary societies arguing the people direct election of U S senators. Great Northern to Augusta Route to Start This Summer

Official action by the Great Northern board ensures a 68 mile line from Vaughn to Augusta along the Sun River valley. Work to begin in spring with Sun River, Shaw and Sunmis stations. The line may extend westward to connect with the main line near Columbia Falls and spur further development in the Sun River project area.
