About 10 am Tuesday a blaze in Mrs. Anderson’s residence spread rapidly with a north wind. Gordon Monkman and sister Cora lost all second floor belongings while Mrs. Anderson’s clothing suffered. the Shields home nearby was saved with wet carpets and forced water. Loss estimated $3,000 to $3,500 with $2,000 insured. cause unknown.

Preliminary Debate Friday Evening at Teton County High
The Teton County high school plans a preliminary debate Friday evening in the high school auditorium to select a team for interschool debates in Montana. Fort Benton is the first outside school to be met as the local team debuts in the state debating league. Candidates Asa Armstrong Ora Armstrong Alden Connor Fred Bergold Maud Wilcox Esther Buzzell will debate. A twenty five cent admission is charged to cover debate expenses. Speaking begins promptly at eight o clock.

Telegram from Seattle informs death of Chas W Gray after a long illness. The Choteau resident moved to the coast for health benefits, returned for a time, then died in Seattle. Funeral held at Chateau Episcopal services with large local attendance and interment in Chateau cemetery. Survived by wife Nellie and five children Besse Mary Wilson Robert David. Gray helped organize Teton County and served as chairman. remembered for public service and citizenship.

George Wilson Frank Collins and Clark Allen known as Jimmy Clarks escaped from the Collins jail after overpowering Jailer Walley during the evening meal They fled toward the Hour mill as deputies pursued and authorities tracked weak leads through snow and fields Collins later captured in a shack on Greenfields bench while the others were tracked to the Wilcox ranch five miles south of town and finally captured near Zimmerman ranch with a hayloft surrender.
